TEXT: LUKE 22: 41–71
TOPIC: THE ARM OF FLESH WILL ALWAYS FAIL US
Many people had failed in their spiritual warfare and fallen into diverse temptations because they had depended on themselves, their strength wisdom, knowledge and experience. Here, Peter denied Jesus three times (vs. 54-61), despite the fact that Jesus had earlier warned him about that (vs. 31-34). Why did Peter fail?
● He did not take the word of the Lord seriously (v34).
● He did not pray for strength (v45-46).
● He was spiritually weak or followed Jesus at a distance (v54).
We must learn from the pitfall of Peter if we too do not want to be found denying Jesus. The Bible says “if our strength fails in the time of adversity, then our strength is small” (Prov. 24:10). So we need to build spiritual strength through prayer and fasting and by putting the word of God inside of us through meditation (Ps. 119:11). However, the good news is that, if we fail God, we can always rise again. Peter repented, asked for forgiveness and was restored. He still became a pillar in God’s kingdom. So even if you have fallen, rise up and continue on the journey to heaven.
QUESTION: Have you fallen or failed God and lost hope?
PRAYER: God, I beg of You, to hold me and give me the grace and strength never to deny You and if I do, please give me the grace to repent and restore me, Amen.
