LEADERS NEED PRIVATE ENCOUNTER WITH GOD.
Read Joshua 5:13-15.
MEMORISE: Then the Commander of the Lord's army said to Joshua, "Take your sandal off your foot, for the place where you stand is holy." And Joshua did so (Joshua 5:15).
EXPOSITION
The success of any leader in public roles is attached to private encounter he has with God. A leader who cannot find time to listen to God cannot represent God well in the public. It is impossible for you to speak for God, if you do not receive from Him. God's calling should make the called more available and attentive to God. Carrying the calling of God upon your life does not automatically qualify you to speak for Him. You have to receive from God before you begin to speak for Him (Jer. 14:14-15; 23:21). We receive from God clearly, timely and sufficiently, when we have private encounter with Him.
If you want to do exploits as a leader at home, church and community, you cannot help but ha private encounter with God (Dan. 11:32). Moses had private encounter with God before he was able to do exploits in leading God's people out of the land of Egypt. Experience of burning bush was what God used to draw Moses' attention to Himself (Exod. 3:1-7). You cannot do well in the service of God, if you are full of yourself.
A leader cannot lead beyond the private encounter he has with God. No matter the level of your leadership, you cannot face leadership challenges without being equipped in isolation. Joshua experienced this encounter with God of Isreal to destroy the city of Jericho. Every leader needs private encounter to get extra-ordinary power to lead. Always go to your privacy to have an encounter with God before you take any major decision in your life. Where are you leading? Home, an organization, community or church? Wait for God, receive from Him before releasing unto His people. He is their Owner who wants you to REPRESENT Him.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord Jesus give me special grace to maintain daily privacy with You for fresh encounter.
2. Help me Lord to always seek Your face before I take any major decision in my life.
3. Lord, help our Church leaders of different cadres to have private encounter with You before they take their major steps in their administration.
