CHRIST APOSTOLIC CHURCH
THE LIVING WATER (January-December, 2024)
DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE
DATE: Friday, March 22,2024
(World Water Day)
TOPIC: JUST DON'T DROWN
MEMORISE
To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and we are poorly clothed, and beaten, and homeless (1 Corinthians 4:11).
READ: Romans 8:35-39
[35]. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
[36]. As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
[37]. Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
[38]. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,
[39]. nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
EXPOSITION
Christianity, it is often said, is not a path strewn with roses; however, it promises an unparalleled and glorious end. The Bible wisely reminds, _The end of a thing is better than its beginning_ (Eccl. 7:8). The journey from expectation to reality is often filled with challenges, and the good things in life are worth the fight. Hence, Christians should exercise patience and firm focus on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith, as we navigate the trials along the road to glory. Endurance plays a pivotal role in our pursuit of eternal life. While Satan has been ultimately defeated, in the meantime, he presents various trials to daunt believers from reaching their glorious destinies. He dangles wealth, fame and worldly positions as distractions to rob us of our eternal blessings. But, like Paul, we should be resolute in our faith (Acts 20:24).
So, don't let the highs or lows of life sway your conviction. These are but transient waves in the vast ocean of existence. Safeguard your most precious possession: your salvation. If God aided Joseph, Job, Tabitha, Peter, etc. in overcoming their trials, rest assured that He will deliver you from every obstacle. These trials are merely tools designed to instil fear, but God hasn't given us the spirit of fear (2 Tim. 1:7).
Dear devout, regardless of the challenges that may confront you on this journey, do not allow yourself to be overwhelmed or drowned, even as today marks World Water Day. Rise above them, walk on, and continue moving forward. In the name of Jesus, Rise up and walk (Acts 3:6).
PRAYER POINTS
1. Thank you, Lord, for being my great Supporter all these while.
2. Holy Spirit, I need Your unstoppable power to keep me moving in spite of the fiery darts of the evil one.
3. God, help Your Church to endure through all challenges till the end where You will say to us, "Well done, faithful servants."
SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY
CAC GHB: 724
1. Stand up, stand up for Jesus!
Ye soldiers of the Cross;
Lift high His royal banner,
It must not suffer loss.
From vict'ry unto vict'ry
His army shall He lead,
Till every foe is vanquished
And Christ is Lord indeed.
2. Stand up, stand up for Jesus!
The trumpet-call obey;
Forth to the mighty conflict
In this His glorious day!
Ye that are men, now serve Him
Against unnumbered foes;
Let courage rise with danger,
And strength to strength oppose.
3. Stand up, stand up for Jesus!
Stand in His strength alone:
The arm of flesh will fail you;
Ye dare not trust your own.
Put on the Christian's armour,
And watching unto prayer,
Where duty calls, or danger,
Be never wanting there.
4. Stand up, stand up for Jesus!
The strife will not be long;
This day the noise of battle,
The next the victor's song
To him that overcometh
A crown of life shall be;
He with the King of Glory
Shall reign eternally.
Amen.
