DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE
DATE: Tuesday, March 26, 2024
TOPIC: THE LORD IS MY KEEPER (II)
MEMORISE : The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge (Psalm 46:7).
READ: Psalm 46:1-7
[1]. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
[2]. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
[3]. Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling.
[4]. There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.
[5]. God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.
[6]. The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted.
[7]. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.
EXPOSITION
During times of high insecurity, it is not uncommon to experience feelings of threat and fear. Many individuals in the Bible have also experienced these emotions, but the difference is that, God intervened in their situations and alleviated their fears. He has always kept His promise to protect us from all dangers and threats. For instance, when Hezekiah was threatened by Sennacherib and his allies (2 Chro. 32:9-19), God protected Jerusalem from being conquered. See what the LORD God of Israel Who promises to be your Keeper did to Sennacherib (vv. 20-23).
Furthermore, Noah and his family were saved from perishing in the flood because they obeyed God. Noah expressed his gratitude to God by building an altar after the Flood. God has promised to keep us safe from all harm, and as He fulfils this, we should be grateful to Him. In addition, God delivered David from Saul by using a spider's web to save him from being killed. When David entered the cave, God commanded a spider to spin a web at the entrance, indicating that no one had recently entered. Thus, David was protected even when he believed his enemy had finally caught up with him. When we faithfully serve the Lord and place our whole trust in Him, He will rescue us from all evil. Just like Hezekiah prayed and God dealt with Sennacherib, don't abandon God in search of safety elsewhere.

SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY:
CAC GHB: 699
1. In the shadow of Most High God
There my protection shall be
For Thou neither sleep nor slumber
Thou watches me all my days
I am living in the shadow
Shadow of the King of kings
He cover'd me with His feathers
For With Him I found my rest.
2. In the shadow of Most High God
I am free from all terrors
For with His arm; He cover'd me
And compass'd me in His love.
3. In the shadow of Most High God
There shall no evil found there
Christ my hope my shield my refuge
He is all the world to me.
Amen
