Anglican Church Bible Study For May 28, 2023 : Topic - Divided Loyalty

--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. GOD’S CHILDREN AS PILGRIMS TO THE HEAVENLY KINGDOM:
MANIFESTATION OF GOD’S REIGN ON EARTH

PENTECOST SUNDAY

Date: May 28, 2023

Sub Theme: Dangers on the path of Pilgrims to heavenly Kingdom 7

Topic: Divided Loyalty

Text: Matt. 26:14-16, Matt. 26:47-50.

Aims

to study the concept of divided loyalty,

to identify various ways it is exhibited today

to enumerate the consequences of divided loyalty.

Introduction

Our text today reveals what divided loyalty means. It is working passionately to please two different personalities at the same time. Jesus emphasized the same matter in Matt 6:24 by telling His disciples that it is impossible for one to serve two masters as the loyalty would be divided. However, Judas, His Treasurer and possibly one of the closest to Him in administration displayed a very good example of divided loyalty to his master and saviour. Whoever has the kingdom of God as their eternal destination after their earthly pilgrimage should strive hard to desist from whatever can affect their total loyalty to God.

Study Guide

How would you describe divided loyalty in the context of our text today? (Matt 26:14-16, Matt 26:47-50)

Identify some ways of divided loyalty among Christians today with reference to Gen. 39:7-10; 1Sam.28:7-9; Matt.6:24.

Discuss the possible effects of divided loyalty on PILGRIMS TO HEAVENLY KINGDOM in the light of the disloyalty displayed by Aaron in Ex 32:1-4, Ex 32:7-10.

How best can we have total and undivided loyalty as Pilgrims to the kingdom of God? Deut 10:12; Eccl.5:4-6; Luke 12:42-43.

Conclusion

Our God is a jealous God. He will never allow us share loyalty with any other creature. As Christians that has heaven as our goal, we must always live a committed life to the worship and obedience to the only God Almighty.

Food for Thought

Any attempt to share the loyalty to God Almighty disqualifies us from His kingdom.

Memory Verse

Matt. 6:24 - “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon”.
