--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. Sub-Theme: The eternal reign with God-2

Topic: Crucifying self/Self discipline

Text: Rom 6:1-9

Aims

i. to explain the meaning of self-crucifixion,
ii. to differentiate between living in the flesh and living in Christ and
iii. to expose the importance of self-crucifixion to our eternal reign with God.

Introduction

To guarantee our eternal reign with God, believers must crucify self. Self-crucifixion simply means disciplining the flesh against sinful habits. It is a process in which one doesn’t need to be told to depart from iniquity, but can easily see the enslaving nature of sins and the glorious freedom in living a Christ-like life. (Gal 2:20)

Study Guide

1. How can you explain the term “self-crucifixion” according to Rom 6:6-8; Rom 6:12-13?
2. According to Rom 6:3-4; how can you explain Christian Baptism to an unbeliever?
3. What do we mean by “New life in Christ” according to Gal 2:20; Tit 2:13-14 & 1Peter 4:1-4 and differentiate between life in Christ and life in the flesh. Gal 5:24.
4. What is the importance of self-Crucifixion to our eternal reign with God? Rev 21:7-8; Rev 22:14-15.

Conclusion

As Christians, we must always crave for the grace and ability to always see the enslaving nature of sinful livelihood by dedicating our lives to godly living in Christ Jesus so as to continuously see the importance of eternal reign with God.

Food for Thought

Dedication to sin leads to eternal bondage while dedication to Christ leads to eternal freedom.

Memory Verse

Rom 6:6 “knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin”.
