Methodist Daily Reflection For October 4, 2022 : Topic - Methodist Daily Reflection

--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. Methodist Daily Reflection

Tue, Oct 4th

THEME: GIFT FOR CORPORATE GOOD

PASSAGE: 1 CORINTHIANS 12:1-11

Read - Day: Phil 4; Night: Isaiah 41-42

MEMORY VERSE: 1 Corinthians 12:7 “To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the good.”

HYMN: MHB 290 (7.7.7.5.) GRACIOUS Spirit, Holy Ghost

PRAYER: Oh Lord, help me to use my gift for Your glory and benefit of mankind, in Jesus' name. Amen

A gift is something given to another voluntarily without any charge. It is a talent or natural ability. But Spiritual gift is the extraordinary powers God has given to His children for the edification of the body of Christ and to also assist in spreading the gospel to unbelievers.

In verse 7, Apostle Paul wrote what the Christians in Corinth should know about spiritual gifts. Since Paul knew that they were new converts, he made them know that spiritual gift is not for self-glory but for God's glory. Every God-given gift should be used for corporate/common good of others and not for division or any other negative ambition.

There are diversities of gifts; to some He gives the gift of administrations, to some word of knowledge, to another faith, to another gift of healing, miracle, prophesy, etc, but the same Spirit.

One thing is that God has endowed everybody with one gift or the other, but the question we should ask ourselves is: How have we been using our spiritual gifts? Do our gifts still give God glory or do we boast on our self-confidence? We prophesy, render good sermon, perform one miracle or the other; it is the Spirit of God that is working in us. Christians should be careful because gifts expose us to more temptation, such as pride and disobedience, absence from Christian fellowship, etc.

Therefore, we cannot use our gifts properly unless we submit ourselves totally to Jesus following the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Let us be spiritual and live in love and unity, and use our gifts for unification of Christ's body (the church) so that the name of God can be glorified in us as we receive His blessing.
