GOD’S LAW IS PERFECT

Bible Text: Psalm 19:7-11
Memory Verse: The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. Psalm 19:7, NIV
In a time when people doubt that there is any ground for certainty, God’s Word provides a reliable anchor upon which we can stake our lives. The psalmist celebrates God’s revelation through the Scriptures by using six declarations to highlight the identity, quality, and benefits of God’s Word.
As God’s Word, the Scripture is inerrant in its accuracy and authority as it turns people to repentance and imparts the life of God’s people (vs. 7a). The testimony of God’s identity is trustworthy in its dependability as it provides wisdom to make wise choices (vs. 7b). God’s Word is never wrong as it prescribes the best way to conduct our lives, and through it, one finds the cause of joy, which is a remedy for depression (vs. 8a). God’s commands enlighten man’s understanding with deep insight into life issues and dispel the darkness of ignorance (vs. 8b). All that the law requires one to do are pure and righteous (vs. 9). The psalmist testifies that God’s Word is more valuable than gold and sweeter than honey.
God’s Word should be desired and treasured above everything else because its benefits are worth more than what anything else can offer you. Read the Scriptures prayerfully and allow it to transform you.
Insight: Only God’s Word offers eternal benefits.
