TOPIC: IN A SHORT WHILE
READ: 1 Corinthians 15:51-54
[51] Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
[53] For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
[54] So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
MEMORISE:
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ that each one may receive the things done in the body. According to what he has done, whether good or bad (2 Corinthians 5:10).
EXPOSITION
The lyric of a song reads: "Soon and very soon, we are going to meet the Lord..." All men would meet the Lord, whether they know it or not; believe it or not. Meeting the Lord is a compulsory thing. It is not optional. You will give the account of what you do here on earth when you meet Him. How is your meeting the Lord going to be-joyous or sorrowful?
Where you stand in the Lord today will determine how meeting with Him would be. Yesterday and tomorrow do not matter when it comes to the issue of meeting Him. Today is the only important day that matters. Every man is to spend a short while here on earth, but what you do with the short while determines the experience you will have in eternity, which begins in a short while.
In a "short while" is of two types-here and there. You spend a short while here, and in another short while you will transit to the world beyond to be either with Christ or the devil. The mistakes you make in a "short while" here can be corrected, but in another short while, all things will become permanent, after the final divine judgement.
In a short while, we will round up our affairs on earth. In a short while, we will not be able to amend our ways any longer. In a short while, this aged world would be remade and the saints would live in it in a new body-spiritual and eternal. Kindly be mindful of your actions every minute of your life. Let not this 'short while' debar you from the God-ordained eternal bliss coming in a short while (2 cor. 5:9-11).
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, let me not forget that I will one day return home to You. Help me to get prepared always.
2. I refuse to destroy my eternity in God's kingdom with the ephemeral things of this world.
3. Pray that God will rekindle the fire of revival in us, so that we can keep burning for Him.
