CAC LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR JUNE 22, 2022 : Topic - A MISERABLE COMFORTER

--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. A MISERABLE COMFORTER
Read Job 4v1-9
1 ESV:Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said:
2 ESV:“If one ventures a word with you, will you be impatient? Yet who can keep from speaking?
3 ESV:Behold, you have instructed many, and you have strengthened the weak hands.

4 ESV:Your words have upheld him who was stumbling, and you have made firm the feeble knees.
5 ESV:But now it has come to you, and you are impatient; it touches you, and you are dismayed.
6 ESV:Is not your fear of God your confidence, and the integrity of your ways your hope?
7 ESV:“Remember: who that was innocent ever perished? Or where were the upright cut off?
8 ESV:As I have seen, those who plow iniquity and sow trouble reap the same.
9 ESV:By the breath of God they perish, and by the blast of his anger they are consumed.

Memorise:
ESV:“I have heard many such things; miserable comforters are you all.
(Job 16v2)

Exposition
Life is not just about excitement. There are vicissitudes in the world, and everyone is expected to have his/her share of life's unfairness, one time or the other. If God permitted Christ to suffer unpleasantness when here in earth to fulfil His purpose, who are you to dodge the challenges of life? Job, a man of integrity, attested to by God Himself, faced terrible situations no one would have thought a righteous person would face, but God permitted and monitored it. The best gift Job's 3 friends could have given him in his time of misfortune was identifying with him in his pains (Job 2v12-13). Sitting down with a person in pains, anguish and keeping quiet, as a sign to him/her that you share in his/her pains-condolence/consolation.

However, some people aggravate the troubles of thsoe in pains with what they utter to them. They try to blame the oppressed for their woes, condemning them in the name of consolation. What miserable comforters! The attitude of Eliphaz, the Termanite, was a thorn in the flesh of Job, at that critical moment of His life. His Word and that of Job's other friends were like pus in the bone. He made Job felt angry, and that anger aggravated his pains to the extent that he uttered some words that he ought not to have uttered. Are we in any way different?

Our modes of consolation may either aggravate or reduce the pains of the troubled. It is wrong to be exposing someone else's problem in public in pretence that you are praying for him/her. Do not spoil peoples mood on pretence of sympathizing with them. You don't know how they feel. Don't relate with someone in pains based on your own feelings. If you are led to pray for them, do it in your closet without announcements that may frustrate the person you are praying for. Don't be a judge over what you know little or nothing about. Don't be a miserable comforter; be a burden bearer/lifter.

Prayer points
1. Pray that God will have mercy on you in those areas where you have acted with wrong zeal in relation to other peoples issues.
2. Pray zealously for as many as you know that are passing through any form of difficulty that God should mercifully come through for them.
3. Pray for CAC, Latunde Region, our father in the Lord, the Superintendent, and it's officers at the various levels, as led by the spirit of God.
