C.A.C SUNDAY SCHOOL MANUAL FOR OCTOBER 17 & 24, 2021 LESSON SIX : TOPIC - KILLING ON THE RISE

--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. CHRIST APOSTOLIC CHURCH WORLDWIDE

SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON
(KINGDOM OF GOD FAMILY)
THEME: IN TIME LIKE THIS
Unit Two : POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC WARS
Date : October 17th & 24th, 2021
Lesson Seven
TOPIC : KILLING ON THE RISE
Memory Scripture
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting
(Romans 1:28).
Satan motivated Cain to murder Abel. He still does that today. Don't be an instrument in his hands.
BRIEF COMMENT
Man who was created in God's image and likeness with glory should not have had any problem relating to, and with God whom he represents, and the image of God Whom he is. Also considering the intention of God for creating man (to be like Him, to represent, worship and serve Him), man shouldn't have problem in maintaining deep fellowship with Him. However, the reverse is the case. Man chose to align with the Devil, God's enemy. Friendship with the Devil haunted man down to the state Paul describes in the memory scripture. Paul wasn't talking to a particular set of people, but generally about the state of man. Even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge. "They" refers to man in the generic sense as they have chosen to depart from God's knowledge, just like Cain went out from the presence of the Lord (Gen. 4:16), and the people prior to the deluge were carrying desperately wicked hearts (Gen. 6:5). Man chose to drift away from his Creator with just a few, "the remnant," still maintaining cordial relationship with their Maker.
Paul unveils what God's attitude towards these unrighteous and reprobate people: He gave them over to a debased mind... (depraved mind, NIV; worthless thinking NCV; reprobate mind (KJV) To be debased simply means to make inferior... of low quality, to reduce the value of something. People who should have been worthy, of quality spiritual life in God, special and holy vessels of God now become worthless, corrupt and inferior in all sphere. What a pity!
Due to the corruption brought by man's failure to acknowledge God and His holiness, God handed them over to do those things which are not fitting; things that they ought not to do, worthless things, corrupt things etc. According to today's Sunday school lesson, one of the unfitting things, they do is taking their own lives and lives of others any how. Today, people kill as of they have the irrevocable license to take lives of any body. The only solution is that, man must acknowledge God and live to serve and fulfil His will.
Devotional Bible Readings For Week One
Mon. 11: God Rejects Human Sacrifice (Gen. 22:9-14)
Tue. 12: God's Provision For Unintentional Killing (Num. 35:9-21)
Wed. 13: God's Judgment On A Manslayer (Num. 35:22-34)
Thur. 14: Man's Blood Shall Be Required (Gen. 9:5-6)
Fri. 15: Man Is Not Licensed To Kill (Exod. 20:13)
Sat. 16: Murder Is Wickedness (Psa. 10:1,8)
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
1. No matter how our generation views killing, God is against man taking his life or that of his fellow man.
2. God disapproves of anyone taking his life or any other's. Violators of the biblical injunction, "You shall not kill" live to face the wrath of the law of both God and the government. In God's sight, suicide and killing of other people are placed on the same page --- murder, and rewarded accordingly.
BACKGROUND SCRIPTURES: Exodus 20:13
AIM AND OBJECTIVES
AIM: To show that the increase in the rate of killing as witness as witnessed today is ungodly, inhuman, and one of the signs of the end-time.
OBJECTIVES: At the end of this lesson learners should be able to:
i. show that murder didn't originate with God, but is a product of the Fall;
ii. show how the Devil has been a murderer and destroyer from the beginning, who also motivates all forms of killing;
iii. discuss how human killing originated with Cain, who murdered his blood brother, and got severed from God; and
iv. draw lessons from Lamech's boastful murderous actions that brought upon him the wrath of God and curse.
INTRODUCTION
TEXTAUL SOURCE: GENESIS 2:7; 4:1-24; EXODUS 1:15-22; JOHN 10:10; 1 PETER 5:8
In the previous lesson, IN TIMES OF ECONOMIC DOWNTURN is what we examined in our series of the Sunday School. We quickly saw God's blueprint for the world's economy as we understood that all that God created was good in the beginning. There was nothing like bad weather, austerity, depression, bankruptcy, etc. The people of God, the Israelites, were also settled in a land flowing with milk and honey, after their sojourn in the land of Egypt, to show to us today that God has nothing but the best for His children. Bad economy is not what God intends for His people, but a product of sin, the Fall. That is the focus last week.
This week, we shall be examining KILLING ON THE RISE. Since the fall of man, evil continued to increase in human society, such as human killings and many other vices. Yet by no means has God approved of them. From the beginning of human history, killing was considered by God as one of the greatest crimes. Taking one's life, or another's is considered by God as a grievous offence (Gen. 9:5,6; cf. Jn. 8:44; 1 Jn. 3:12,15).
The word, 'killing,' as used in this lesson, is the Hebrew word "rasah" meaning "to kill," but used to translate other words like "murder." There are others ---- homicide, genocide, assassination, etc., depending on the context from which one is talking, or the reference we are making. May the Holy Spirit rid our land of the pollution of bloodshed, in Jesus' name. Amen.
INTRODUCTION TO EACH DIVISION
This is another 2-week lesson that comes with two different but interrelated divisions that are in turn each, subdivided into A and B parts.
DIVISION I: THE DEVIL IS A MURDERER
This division reveals who Satan is, his heinous role as a murderer and his wicked motivation of killings from the beginning. It is divided into two parts A and B. The A part Satan Kills, is taken from Genesis 2:7; John 10:10,28; 1 Peter 5:8, while the second part, B, Satan Motivates Killing, expatiates on Genesis 4:8,9 and Exodus 1:15-22. These Scriptures establish the Devil as the master killer (murderer). Thank God for Jesus.
DIVISION II: THE EARLIEST KILLING
In this section, Cain and Lamech are the two characters examined from Genesis 4:1-15,19-24. The two of them are the earliest killers in succession, in human history. The two parts making up this division expatiates on the causes of their wickedness, and how we can avoid and overcome such, as well as the consequences. This section X-rays and presents the earliest killings in human history as precursors of the similar unfortunate happenings today, and as a deterrent to murderers everywhere.
LESSON OUTLINE
I. THE DEVIL IS A MURDERER
A. SATAN KILLS
B. SATAN MOTIVATES KILLING
II. THE EARLIEST KILLING
A. CAIN, THE INITIATOR OF HUMAN KILLING
B. LAMECH, A BOASTFUL HUMAN KILLER
LESSON EXPOSITION
I. THE DEVIL IS A MURDERER (Genesis 2:7; 4:8-9; Exodus 1:15-22; John 10:10, 28; 1 Peter 5:8)
A murderer I someone who has formed the habit of killing people, most especially, unjustly or extra-judicially --- hired assassin, armed robber and ritual killers, inclusive. Some murderers kill on contract, i.e. are employed, or contracted to murder. This is common in politics and civil service, where people eliminate their perceived enemies and distractors. The Devil is a notorious murderer and destroyer of destinies. May we not be victims of his wickedness, in Jesus' name. Amen.
A. SATAN KILLS (Gen. 2:7; Jn. 10:10, 28; 1 Pet. 5:8)
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly (Jn. 10:10).
i. Gen. 2:7: God gives life to every human being, and providentially supplies everything man would need for good living (cf. 2 Pet. 1:3).
ii. Jn. 10:10b, 28: Jesus confirmed that the abundant life belongs to God and towards that end He has come. This is contrary to the devil's tendency to ...to kill and to destroy.
iii. v.10: The thief here is referring to no other than Satan. What a thief does in the real sense is what the Devil does in the spiritual sense --- a killer and destroyer.
iv. 1 Pet. 5:8: ...seeking who he may devour confirms the Devil as a debourer, killer and destroyer. He has succeeded in destroying and devouring so many lives
He strategically looks for someone to destroy.
v. Though he did not physically kill our patriarchs, he brought death on them after snatching everything from them, including their dominion, glory, fellowship with God, etc. Since then, he has succeeded in murdering many others. Be warned (1 Peter 5:8).
vi. Satan has succeeded in blowing life out of many people who should have lived to the fullest and to God's glory. He killed Adam and Eve with ripple effects on humanity by feeding them with disobedience. When sin fully develops, or begets death. You will be can stop the Devil from murdering you by accepting the offer of Life --- God's gift through Jesus Christ (Rom. 6:23b).
B. SATAN MOTIVATES KILLING (Gen. 4:8-9; Exod. 1:15-22).
And he said, "When you do the duties of a midwife for the Hebrew women, and see them on the birthstools, if it is a son, then you shall kill him; but if it is a daughter, then she shall live (Exodus 1:16).
i. Death in any form, or by any means is never in God's programme for man from the beginning. It only came upon man as one of the consequences of the Fall.
ii. Gen. 4:8,9: Not quite long after the Fall, the first death was recorded --- Cain killed his own blood brother, Abel. Satan brought sin, and sin brought death (cf. Jas. 1:15).
iii. Had there been no sin, death wouldn't have surfaced and there wouldn't have been anything like killing. The Devil introduced sin together with all its consequences (Rom 6:23).
iv. Exod. 1:15-22: There are several extra judicial killings in the Scriptures, and all of them are motivated by the Devil. Apart from how he instigated Cain against his brother, he moved Pharaoh against the sons of the Hebrews and made Herod to terminate many children's lives because he wanted to get at Jesus.
v. This evil hasn't stopped. It is on the increase by the day, despite the biblical injunction on murder (Exod. 20:13). The list is inexhaustible --- homicide, genocide, suicide, assassination, ritual killing, etc.
vi. The rate at which lives are being taken today is really a thing of great concern, and shows that we are in the end-time. The Devil knows that his time is very short. He is therefore practising his last chance strategies to time is sure people don't confess Jesus' lordship before they die, or are killed.
LESSONS DERIVED
1. He that kills is of the Devil because the Devil is a notorious killer.
2. The Devil has motivated so many killings, and is still in the business. You can't afford to be used by him.
WORK TO DO
Extra judicial killings are rife in the world today. What is the root cause? Any hope of overcoming this menace?
SUGGESTED ANSWER TO WORK TO DO
i. Anything extrajudicial is done illegally, i.e., done without the permission of or use of official legal system.
ii. Extrajudicial killing is therefore human killings also known as government authorities without the sanction of any judicial proceeding or legal process (en.m. wikipedia.org)
iii. Without mincing words, there are human killings going on in the world today; some of which are extrajudicial and some are not.
iv. People kill for several reasons: rituals selfishness, greed, envy, jealous, anger, pleasure, power, position and wealth. Also some people kill to persecute and gag the truth (Jn. 8:37-40).
v. They kill to satisfy the will of their master and father, the Devil (John 8:44; 1 John 3:8).
vi. Devil has always been the root cause of killing. He is a murderer and motivator of several killings.
vii. There are killings, which are intentional and some are unintentional. Killings is one of the easiest ways the curse of death is fulfilled on man.
viii. Through the sin of Adam, death came to man but by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ mankind gained life. Therefore, in Jesus we have overcome death and its sting. Hallelujah!
ix. Those of us who have accepted the Lordship of Jesus, we have moved from death to life. We cannot be killed by the Devil and his cohorts. If the Devil succeed physically in killing a believer, either as a way of persecution, or something allowed by God, He cannot kill him spiritually. Only God can kill and send the soul to hell (spiritual death and eternal death --- Revelation 20:14).
