Title: Jesus is the True Vine.
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit;apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. “As the Father has loved me,so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command.I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. This is my command: Love each other.
Jesus is the true vine and God is the gardener, who carefully plants and cares for the branches, so that they can bear fruit. The branches of this vine are all those who are followers of Jesus. In other words, everyone who has accepted Jesus as their Lord and savior and starts to follow Him is part of this branch that Jesus is talking about here. Those branches that are fruitful , are the true believers in Christ who are United with Him , and are producing fruit. These true branches are attached to the vine, which is Christ and they are absorbed in the things of the Lord. They are drawing all their energies, and nourishment from the vine.
( Colossians 2:6-7) So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thanksgiving.Full life in Jesus is accomplished when we acknowledge Him as our leader in every areas of our lives. We have to allow Him to take preeminence in our lives, by been rooted , built up and strengthening our faith in Jesus. We have to allow Him total control of our lives, Christ wants us to live for Him, by committing everything to Him .Most of the times, we don’t allow God to take control of our lives. We think we do but deep inside our lives we don’t.
The more we are rooted in Christ, the more we understand more of Him. When we are rooted in Him, we cannot easily be misled by the world, He will reveal more of Himself to us, as we follow His leadership. We cannot do well outside Jesus. We are like fish out of water when we are not rooted in Christ, and we cannot bear fruit. Just like when a branch is cut off from a tree, that branch will not be getting food from the tree and eventually will die. For us to get the nourishment we need for our spiritual survival, we need to be strongly rooted in the vine. Those who don’t bear fruit will be cut off .
Remaining in Christ requires us to be fully connected to Jesus, at all times. How can you get connected to Jesus? You cannot get connected to Him if you haven’t had an encounter with Him. If you have not known Him as your personal Lord and savior, follow Him as your savior and Lord. Allow Him into your life, start reading the word of God. Live in obedience with the word of God. He said if you remain in Him you will bear much fruit, and if you don’t remain in Him, you will be like a branch that is thrown away and it withers, But if you remain in Him and He is in you, you can ask Him anything in His name and it will be granted unto you.
The Bible states that Jesus our father chose us, and appointed us so we can bear fruit. Beloved, aren’t you glad that Jesus our savior has chosen you? He loves us so much that He gave His life for us. Jesus made first choice to love and died for us, He is inviting us to come to Him, to be His friends , and He went to prepare a special place for us. He had invited you and I to come. We have to make the next move to accept this invitation or to reject it. He calls us His children, His friends, what is our next move to accept this invitation. Let us humble ourselves before Him and accept this invitation. God is good.
Prayers: Dear Heavenly Father, please help me to get rooted in your word in Jesus name. Help me to bear fruit so that you will not throw me away. Lord please help me in this heavenly race to be found worthy before your judgement throne in Jesus name.
