Title: Take Delight In the Lord
(Psalm 37:1-7) Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.
What does it mean to take delight in the Lord? Taking delight in the Lord means totally devoting our time and life to God, finding peace and fulfillment in the Lord. When we fully commit our ways to the Lord , the Bible says God will fulfill all our heart desires. When we have interest in serving God, He will have interest concerning us too. Taking delight in the Lord starts with having interest in the things of God. Having aspirations to serve God, worshiping Him , loving God and more interest to know Him more. (Matthew 6:33) says “But seek ye first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all things , all the necessities of this life will be added unto you as well.
When we delight in God the Road will be smooth all through. The problem most of us are facing is that we don’t understand what it means to delight in the ways of the Lord. When we don’t have time for God, how can we show delight in Him?. (1 John 2:15-17) Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the father is not in Him. For all that is in the world- the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life is not from the father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
Everything in the world is temporary and will pass away one day, but God is eternal and whatever we do for Him will last forever from here to eternity. Love of money and other worldly materials are not going to fetch us eternal happiness. When we have passed on, what is the next?
Let us look at the words of this hymn:
Fading away like the stars of the morning. Losing their light in the glorious sun- Thus would we pass from the earth and its toiling, only remembered by what we have done.
Refrain: Only remembered, only remembered, only remembered by the work we have done, thus would we pass from the earth ands its toiling, only remembered by the work we have done.
Shall we be miss’d though by others succeeded, Reaping the fields we in springtime have sown? No, for the sowers May pass from their labors, Only remembered by what they have done.
Some of us have delight in riches , firm, and excellency of this world, but the legacy we leave here on earth is what is important and that is what we will be remembered for. When you delight in shedding innocent blood to gain power and money! And do all kind of things to make name here on earth, do you know that on the last day, you will not be remembered for all those wealth you have acquired? And your soul will be suffering in hail? Why are you delighted on the things that will not last forever and forgetting the things that will give you joy and eternal peace? Today , you can make a decision , and have a turn around from those things you do that do not glorify God. And do something that will make you to be remembered in heaven and you will have a crown of life. Thank you Jesus for blessing somebody today through this devotional in Jesus Name.
Prayers: Please Lord help me to Know you more and have delight in you in Jesus mighty name. Help me Lord to put you first in my life, knowing that you will fulfill my heart desires in Jesus name. Thank you Jesus.
