RCCG Sunday School TEACHER’s Manual For June 21, 2020 Lesson 43 : Topic – Child Evangelism

--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. I rejoice to see Thee,
Will thou pass over me today?

OPENING PRAYER: Father, please save all our children and little ones from peril.
MEMORY VERSE: “Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.” – Matthew 18:14
BIBLE PASSAGE: Mark 10:13-16 KJV
13 And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.
14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.
INTRODUCTION:
The great emphasis on the universality of sin and its consequences is so clear in the Bible that we dare not conclude that children are exempted. On the contrary, the Bible makes it very clear that children are included in the “all” who are sinners (Psalm 51:5; Romans 5:12, Romans 3:23). The Lord Jesus showed His deep love and concern for children, He welcomed them (Mark 10:13), He wanted them to be saved (Matthew 18:11) and wished that none of them should perish (Matthew 18:14).
TEXT REVIEW: Mark10:13-16
“And they brought young children to Him, that He should touch them: and His disciples rebuked those that brought them.” – Mark 10:13.
One could have imagined seeing the disciples of Jesus being very happy to see parents or guardians bringing the children to the one who owns them as heritage. Psalm 127:3. To the contrary, the disciples were rebuking them instead of celebrating them. Why? The Lord, the true owner of the children was displeased with the disciples’ acts.
ACTIVITY: Teacher should find out from the Bible passage some premium or values which the Lord placed on children.
OUTLINES:
LESSON OUTLINE 1: MEANING AND REASONS FOR CHILD EVANGELISM
Teacher should explain the points as itemized below:

A. MEANING OF CHILD EVANGELISMi. Child evangelism is the teaching of the message of salvation to children with the aim of bringing them to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
ii. It is the presentation, explanation and application of the Bible truth to the unsaved child’s mind, heart and will (Deuteronomy 6:7, 2Timothy 1:5).
iii. It is not telling Bible story to the child.
B. REASONS FOR CHILD EVANGELISMi. Child evangelism is a fulfilment of Christ’s commandment to all nations without age barrier. (Mark 16:15, Matthew 28:19-20).
ii. Since God’s kingdom is also meant for the children, then it becomes necessary that they too will be saved. (Matthew 19:14; Romans 10:9-10).
iii. Reaching children for Christ at their earliest age is a sure strategy for Church to grow (Proverbs 22:6; Deuteronomy 6:6-7; Luke 18:15-17).
iv. Child evangelism guarantees the survival and continuity of the church and Christianity (2 Timothy 1:5)
v. It is easy for children to accept the Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour because they are teachable (2 Timothy 1:5; Deuteronomy 4:9; 2 Timothy 3:15).
vi. Children do make decisions, therefore, they can make godly characters before their hearts are polluted with sins (1 Samuel 2:18,26).
CLASS ACTIVITY 1: If we accept that children can be genuinely saved, why do some people exempt them from taking the Holy Communion?
LESSON OUTLINE 2: METHODS OF CHILD EVANGELISM
Two categories of methods are often employed to present evangelism to the child. These are mass evangelism and personal evangelism.
A. MASS EVANGELISM:This can take the following forms:
i. Open air crusade, on the streets and villages. Mark 10:1, 13-14.
ii. Open air church service approach which takes children out to places, centres to conduct special programmes like games, film show, Bible quiz, etc.
iii. Print media method makes use of tracts and children literatures, color charts and cartoons, etc. Acts 13:49.
B. PERSONAL EVANGELISMThis is outreach on person to person approach. 1 Samuel 3:7-10
The approaches are:
i. Direct approach. Direct introduction of Jesus to the child with salvation message.
ii. Indirect approach: The conversation begins with other subjects (say football) with intention to end it on salvation message.
iii. Favour or help approach: This approach provides assistance or help to the child with a purpose of introducing the salvation message to the child.
Note that the avenue for child evangelism can be at home, school, church, street, community etc.
SUMMARY:The child has the right to salvation therefore they must be reached for Jesus.
CONCLUSION:There is no qualifying age, either a beginning age at which it is possible to believe or an ending age after which is to late to believe. Salvation is the divine work of the Holy Spirit.
EVALUATION:What are the meanings, reasons and methods of child evangelism.
CLOSING PRAYER:Father, do not let any child (across my way) miss salvation. Use me (by all means) to save them.
ASSIGNMENT:Identify five (5) similarities between the child and adult salvation.
