RCCG Sunday School TEACHER’s Manual For September 1, 2019 Lesson 1: Topic – Hallowed Be Thy Name

--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. RCCG Sunday School TEACHER’s Manual 1 September 2019 Lesson 1 – Hallowed Be Thy Name

TOPIC: Hallowed Be Thy Name
OPENING PRAYERFather, help me to understand who You are and how to reverence Your name.
BIBLE PASSAGE: Psalm 89:5-7 KJV
5 And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O LORD: thy faithfulness also in the congregation of the saints.

6 For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD?
7 God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him.
MEMORY VERSE: “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.” – Matthew 6:9
LESSON INTRODUCTION: What does it means to ‘hallow’ God’s name? The word ‘hallow’ is the Greek word ‘hagiography’ which is the word for ‘holy’. ‘Hallow’ therefore means ‘to set apart as holy, to sanctify or to treat as holy. The best modern word perhaps is ‘reverence’. When we pray ‘hallowed be Your name: we are saying let God’s name be holy and reverenced on earth as it is in head end (Ps. 9:1; 89:5); let His name be given the unique reverence that is due His character and nature as the Heavenly Father(Ps. 92:2). It means to ascend to the very heart of God by recognising who He is and what He has done (Ps.136:1-4). We show reverence to God by learning how to truly worship Him (John 4:24).
