TOPIC - Raising Godly Leadership in the Church: Qualities, Tools
and Strategies .
TEXT : Exodus 18:19-26; Acts 1:20-26 .
AIMS : To help participants
i. understand the concept of godly leadership in the Church ;
ii. Identify the qualities of godly leadership required in the Church ;
iii. Recognize some of the biblical ways and strategies for raising godly leadership
in the Church.
INTRODUCTION :
Church of Nigeria 2019 Bible Study
Leadership is crucial to the success of any organization. The Church is no
exception. It is true that everything rises or falls on leadership, and no
corporation, no organization, no body of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, will
rise above its leadership. Today, there is a tremendous need for godly
leadership in the Church. But how can such be raised in the Church? This
study looks at some of the biblical ways of raising credible leaders in the
Church.
STUDY GUIDE
1. What do you understand by the expression ‘raising godly leadership in the
Church’? Cf. Acts 14:22-23; Titus 1:5 .
2. Identify from these scriptures the basic qualities and requirements of godly
leadership in the Church: Exod. 18: 21; Acts 6:3; Titus 1:6-9 .
3. From the following Scriptures:
a. Identify the types of leadership God has ordained in the Church, 1 Cor.
12:28; Eph. 4:11 .
b. Identify some of the principal duties of such godly leadership in the
Church, Acts 20: 28; Eph. 4: 12-16; 1 Peter 5: 1-3; Matt. 28:19; 2
Tim.2:2.
4. a. What are some of the biblical tools and strategies for raising godly leaders
in the Church, Exod. 18:19-26; Acts 1: 23-26; 6: 2-6; 13: 2-3; 14:23;
16:1-3; Titus 1:5 .
b. How does this differ from the process which obtains in our church today ?
CONCLUSION: God has ordained leadership positions in the Church and also
stipulated the ways and means for filling them. The Church is under an
obligation therefore to adhere strictly to the godly ways and means to raise
godly leaders in its own interest. How you choose determines the godly leaders
you get.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT:Raise church leaders like the world and they will lead
like the world does.
