July 6, 2019 LIVING WATER CAC DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE : TOPIC - MANY PARTS, ONE BODY

--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. TOPIC - MANY PARTS, ONE BODY

Read 1 Corinthians 12:12-24

12. For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
13. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

14. For the body is not one member, but many.
15. If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
16. And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
17. If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?
18. But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
19. And if they were all one member, where were the body?
20. But now are they many members, yet but one body.
21. And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
22. Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:
23. And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.
24. For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked.

MEMORISE: But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased (1 Corinthians 12:18)

EXPOSITION
This generation of Christian denominations seems to be waxing stronger in criticising one another, instead of complementing the body of Christ. We have needlessly been engaging in war of words, because of just a side of God revealed to us! Actually, God is many parts to the people of the world. If the blind individuals are to touch the elephant, and describe it, they will unlikely give uniform reports (cf. 1 Cor. 12:14). Yet, they all felt the elephant!

Dear devout, what should concern you is the unification and meeting point of all these parts (Eph. 4:12). How do you, in your firmness to that part you know, hope to integrate with others without any form of collision? This should bother you, rather than uplifting or magnifying the part you know.
You know how to teach by the grace of God. Thank God for that. However, how holistic will your teaching be for the church, if other aspects (singing, preaching, ushering, and gift/talent?) are not there (v. 21)? Your part (one given as talent/gift) is not as important as the whole of the Body (v. 23). We may be decentralised, that does not indicate that we are disunited. It is still the same One Lord, One Saviour and One God. Any part with divisive tendencies is definitely not part of Christ (1 Cor. 1:12-13). We must seek unity of the Spirit in a bond of peace (Eph. 4:3).

As the International Day of Cooperatives is being celebrated globally today, let us play our individual parts, as believers in the Body of Christ. No competition, no destructive criticism. It is all complement and cooperation we need in the Body of Christ. Be an agent of revitalisation of church unity, God helping you.

PRAYER POINTS
1. Pray against every divisive tendency operating among our churches and denominations.
2. Lord, make me an agent of unity in Your Church everywhere You locate me.
3. Lord Jesus, I will use every gift and other resources You give me to facilitate oneness in Your body; help me Lord.
