TOPIC - Set A Watch Over Thy Mouth
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Job 11-12; Acts 9:1-21
FIRE SCRIPTURE: Psalm 141:1-10
MEMORY VERSE: “For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.” – James 3:2

The MESSAGE:
Talk is cheap; anyone can open his mouth to talk. “Is it not my mouth? No one can do anything to me. I am out-spoken, I don’t like to hide my feelings. These are what people usually say so as not to be accountable for what they say or do. But the Bible tells us that we must account for every word that proceeds out of our mouths.
Are you an interrupter, finisher of sentences, talk-over-another kind of person, listen-so-I-respond kind of person, how-can-I-turn-this-conversation-back-from-me participant, say 1000 words in one minute, like to dominate conversations, hardly listen to others talk? Are you one of these characters? Can God meet you, when you are in these situations or this way? Manifestation of any of these attributes separates you from God.
Will God leave you in darkness of self-denial, self-inflicted separation from Him? No, His grace and love are sufficient but we have to set a watch over our mouths and keep watch over the door of our lips.
The question now is: what kind of seeds are you planting with the words that issue from your mouth? Is it profanity, anger, hostility, unkind words spoken to our loved ones? Is your speech continual cause of sorrow and distress to people? The truth is that the tongue possesses a tremendous power. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit (Proverbs 18:21).
David understood the power of the tongue and prayed God to set a watch over it. While angry, say nothing because in the multitude of words, sin is not lacking but one who restrains his lips is wise (Proverbs 6:16-19). It is better to regret you didn’t say something than to regret what you said. Words spoken cannot be recalled. Wound from stones and sticks do heal but words wound the soul. Read the Epistle of James 3:3-12.
The fact here is that no man can tame the tongue, so make Psalm 141:3 your daily prayer and watch word.
MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:AND THE TONGUE IS A FIRE, A WORD OF INIQUITY: SO IS THE TONGUE AMONG OUR MEMBERS, THAT IT DEFILETH THE WHOLE BODY, AND SETTETH ON FIRE THE COURSE OF NATURE; AND IT IS SET ON FIRE OF HELL.
PROPHETIC WORD:The hand of the Lord shall bridle your tongue not to defile the Temple of God.
PRAYER POINTS:
MORNING
  1. O Lord, set a watch over my mouth, in the name of Jesus.
  2. I release myself from every bondage that I have entered into through the word of my mouth, in the name of Jesus.
  3. My Father, deliver me from the bondage that I put myself, in the name of Jesus.
    EVENING
  4. O God, arise and set me free from every satanic yoke, in the name of Jesus.
  5. You my mouth, you shall not destroy me, in the name of Jesus.
  6. O Lord, purify my tongue with Your fire, in the name of Jesus.
  7. I receive power to be able to caution my tongue, in the name of Jesus.
