The pulpit ministry includes apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. These men may be missionaries and itinerant ministers but you will almost always find those called to pulpit ministry operating in the five-fold ministry offices. Any other function in the kingdom apart from apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor and teacher is a call to helps ministry. 


Helps ministry is any ministry function or service in the church that is not in the five-fold office. Thank God for music ministers and drama ministers but they need to be joined to a pulpit ministry. The local church is the hub of God’s operation on the earth. That is where God processes His children for the manifestation of their destiny.

You should be sure that the execution of your ministry is building up the Body of Christ and not robbing the local church of resources as you go about your ministry. Don’t be a chorister that has received inspiration for several songs but refuses to sing them in the church choir because you want to start a music ministry of your own. 

A helps minister has a ministry like that of Archippus, “The ministry which thou hast received in the Lord.” Fulfil your ministry in the Lord, but not at the expense of your local church. Be faithful at your duty post and serve with all sense of accountability and faithfulness. If God has a pulpit ministry for you in future, you would have received all that is necessary for it as you serve in the helps ministry.

PRAYER: Lord, I thank You because Your plan for me holds fast. I receive the grace to be faithful in the details of the ministry you have committed to my hands in Jesus’ name.
