May 15, 2019 CAC LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE : TOPIC - BE A BETTER HALF

--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. TOPIC - BE A BETTER HALF

Read: Proverbs 31:10-31

[10]Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.[11]The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.[12]She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.[13]She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.[14]She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.[15]She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.[16]She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.[17]She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.[18]She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.[19]She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.[20]She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.[21]She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.[22]She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.[23]Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.[24]She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.[25]Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.[26]She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.[27]She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.[28]Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.[29]Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.[30]Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.[31]Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

MEMORISE: _And the LORD God said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him_ (Genesis 2:18).

EXPOSITION
From the perspective of the Bible, concerning marriage, the woman is provided for the man to be his helpmeet (an exact or precise assistant that fits him, or a round peg in the man’s round hole). Analysts and marriage consultants are of the opinion, therefore, that man/woman is the better half of the woman/man, and that is the stance of the Bible. One wonders why not just “half”, why “better half”? The reason is explained in this wise: a man/woman remains an incomplete half without his/her wife/husband *(Gen. 2:18).* The whole is man and woman. The half remains a half without the other half! When the other half (either man or woman) is joined, it completes to make a whole (one). This is a biblical analysis that yet seems “illogical” to the natural man.

Until you begin to see an obvious incompleteness in you while you were single, you may not appreciate your spouse! It is high time we began to realise that neither the man nor the woman is one-third or one-quarter of the whole one; as man is one-half, so is the woman. It is the combination of the two halves that make up a meaningful, virile, healthy and enduring union.

The Holy Spirit is now saying, in today’s dose of the Living Water that you, as the man/woman, need to be more than just a half to your woman/man. You are a completer and also a complement to him/her. There is a reason God has brought you, together, beyond procreation and avoidance of sexual immorality. You must see your union in purposive perspective. God brought you into your spouse’s life to better his/her life spiritually, academically, vocationally, emotionally, relationally, and every other wise. How well have you been doing this? Receive the grace to be a better half indeed, to your spouse, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, help our youths to always wait on You to patiently and painstakingly locate their better halves before jumping into marriage.
2. Oh Lord, help couples who are only enduring marriage to start enjoying it.
3. Lord, prove Your supremacy over the nation, Nigeria, and cause Your eternal plan and programme to materialize on and for her, regardless of Satan’s machinations.
