TOPIC - A CHECK ON YOU
Read: Luke 1
MEMORISE: And some of the Pharisees said to them, "Why are you doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath’_ (Luke 16:2).
EXPOSITION
With the unfortunate exception of the mentally sick, all patient would appreciate a get well soon visit from their family members and well-wishers. As a matter of fact, when a patient recovers and gets on his feet, he sends messages, write letters and makes calls, appreciating those who cared for him while his ailment lasted. However, no occupant of an office, be it political, secular or sacred wishes to be “checked”. Being “checked” here connotes many things-investigation, auditing, assessing, examination, and evaluation among others.
Meanwhile, the Holy Spirit expects you to do the needful at all times, because there comes one day when you will be checked. If man is going to check you, that is still somehow easy and, most times, can be manipulated. Why? He is corruptible and can compromise standards *(Psa. 14:1).* The books of accounts and other documents under your watch can be doctored in your favour, for one reason or the other, but the type of check being considered in this Living Water dose will not permit such because Christ, the Righteous Judge , is involved.
Before the coming check, you can do yourself pretty good by personally and sincerely looking into various things associated with you (2 Cor. 13:5ff). Correction is still very much possible, but will be too late on the day of reckoning. Every man will give account of whatever he has done in the flesh (Heb. 13:17). Brother Paul admonishes that everyone should examine himself, whether we are still on the track of faith. There is no better pre-check than this, before the real check. Although, man naturally does not like to be checked in his excesses, for he knows not his limits, but an unavoidable and great check looms on the earth! Would you be able to do, if you have not been given a good account of yourself to God and man, now!
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, help me to always be conscious that Your eyes are everywhere watching the affairs of men, including mine.
2. Oh Lord, forgive all my past errors.
3. Holy Spirit, we rely upon You to always put us in order as a Church before we are judged for all our errors.
