TOPIC - Ignite a Fresh Love for Christ 
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Judges 7-8; Luke 5:1-16
FIRE SCRIPTURE: Revelation 2:2-5
MEMORY VERSE: “And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” – Matthew 7:23

The MESSAGE:
First love is the devotion of Christ that so often characterizes the new believer. When you newly embrace Christ, the joy of the new relationship and your love for Christ is fervent, personal, uninhibited, excited, and openly displayed. It is like the “honeymoon love” of the husband and wife. It is usually very hot and captivating and looks like the couple would glue together in such love forever as confessed during their joining by the priest. Unfortunately, if the events during the course of the marriage proves otherwise, the couple would begin to gradually drift apart. This happens when the husband and wife begin to take each other for granted, and life becomes routine rather than exciting. This development puts the marriage in danger and their love begins to wax cold.
The above scenario is equally true of believers who are unable to nurture their relationship in Christ. The love that is nurtured deepens and grows richer beyond the honeymoon days and should never be allowed to lose the excitement and wonder of those honeymoon days. The believer has the responsibility to nurture and grow his love for Christ. This love is not simply nurtured by involvement in church activities, financial contributions and services rendered to the church, but by our motive for doing them. What we do for the Lord is important, but why we do it is more important. This was the accusation of the Lord against the Ephesian church.
It means that it is possible to serve, sacrifice, and suffer in the church and yet not really love Jesus Christ! The Ephesian believers were so busy maintaining their separation that they were neglecting adoration. Labour is no substitute for love, neither is purity a substitute for passion. The believer must have both if he is to please Christ. We should exhibit the work of faith, labour of love and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 1:3) to enable us take our exalted heavenly position in Christ (Revelation 2:5). It is only as we love Christ fervently that we can serve Him faithfully. Our Love for Him must be pure for our service to be accepted without reservation.
This then calls for thorough self-examination, knowing full well that the Lord is monitoring us. How fervent and sincere is the work of God you are doing? Do you still have your first love intact? If not, remember where you have fallen, repent and return to your first love. Awake to righteousness and restore the original fellowship with God. Engage in fervent prayers, Bible reading and meditation, obedience and sincere service, and true worship. The Lord is coming. May His grace uphold you to the end. Shalom!

  6. Revive my spiritual life, O Lord, in the name of Jesus.
  7. I declare by the Spirit of God, nothing shall separate me from the love of Christ, in the name of Jesus.
