March 28, 2019 Mountain Of Fire Daily Devotional : TOPIC - Dangers of Leaving God Out Of the Calculation (VI)

--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. TOPIC - Dangers of Leaving God Out Of the Calculation (VI)
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Judges 4-6; Luke 4:31-44
FIRE SCRIPTURE: Genesis 13:10-13
MEMORY VERSE: “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” – Proverbs 14:12

The MESSAGE:
Lot had a great opportunity to become a man of God as he walked with Abraham, but he was more interested in the blessings he could get through the man of God. His attitude is typical of the many sycophants that surround the men of God today. They have conditional loyalty, focussing mainly on their personal gains from their privileged position. The slightest sign of things working contrary to their expectation would unveil their colour and expose their closeness to the man of God. Rather than seek to be anointed like the man of God, they concentrate on the financial blessings flowing from his office to the detriment of their personal relationship with God.
Lot failed to develop his relationship with God. He did not build an altar where he could call on the Lord for divine direction in choosing a safe location. First, he looked toward Sodom (Genesis 13:10), then he moved toward Sodom (Genesis 13:11-12) and finally, he moved into Sodom (Genesis 14:12). Instead of being a pilgrim who made progress, Lot regressed into the world and away from God’s blessing (Psalm 1:1). He “journeyed east” (Genesis 13:11) and turned his back on Bethel (“the house of God”) and to Ai (Genesis 12:8). The people in Sodom may not have appeared wicked to Lot, but they were wicked as far as God was concerned and His evaluation is all that matters. He detached from the friend of God and pitched tent with the enemies of God. What do you consider the end of such a person would be?
On the other hand, Abraham let God choose for him. After Lot had gone away, Abraham had another meeting with the Lord (Genesis 13:14-18). Lot had lifted up his eyes and seen what the world had to offer; now God invited Abraham to lift up his eyes and see what heaven had to offer. Lot chose a piece of land which he finally lost but God gave Abraham the whole land which still belongs to him and his descendants. Lot had said, “I will take.” God said to Abraham, “I will give.” What a contrast! Lot lost his family, but Abraham was promised a family so large it could not be counted. Lot was living for the people, but Abraham was trusting God for the impossible. “Lift up your eyes and look” was followed by “Lift up your feet and walk” (Genesis 13:17). The discipline Abraham experienced in going down to Egypt had taught him to respect boundaries, so now God could trust him with horizons. It is your faith in God that determines how much of His blessing you will enjoy.
Satan wants to use circumstances, people, and things to tempt you and bring out the worst in you, but God also wants to use them to test you and bring out the best in you. Abraham failed the test of famine because he resorted to faith in man’s wisdom instead of faith in God’s word. But he passed the test of conflict with Lot, because he let God take control. Lot, however, failed to let God be God in his life and for this reason, satan could easily sift him like wheat. Lot and his family got entangled with the sinners of Sodom and easily got completely carried away by the worldly enjoyment of Sodom. Lot later became a victim of many unfavourable circumstances. He was a war captive; he lost his sons in law; he lost all his wealth; he lost his wife; and eventually lost his integrity by impregnating his two daughters.
As a believer who has fallen into the world’s snares or comes dangerously near to them, you must learn that it is not safe to leave the paths marked out by Divine Providence. While we are in the path of Providence, we may expect divine direction, but when we leave the paths of Providence, we are thrown upon the resources of our own wisdom and strength, and can only expect failure. Every step we take from the paths of Providence only increases the difficulty of returning. We must also realise that the friendship of the world involves deep spiritual loss like in Abraham’s case and finally that the soul’s safety is best secured by revisiting the scenes where God was first felt and known. Consecrate yourself afresh to God, and walk your way into full restoration.
