--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. TOPIC - Dangers of Leaving God Out Of the Calculation (II)
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Joshua 22-24; Luke 3
FIRE SCRIPTURE: Genesis 12:18-20
MEMORY VERSE: “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:” – Isaiah 1:18-19

The MESSAGE:
Many people travel out of their home country to foreign lands in search of the so-called better opportunities. Like Abraham, many of them may be lucky to acquire what they consider the gains of traveling overseas. A casual observer might conclude that what happened to Abraham was not all bad. Pharoah gave him a lot of wealth (Genesis 12:16; 13:2), and Sarah was also given a maid, Hagar (16:1). You can also say that God forgave Abraham’s sin, and he started over again with God as a wealthier man. So, what is the big problem in relocating if your economic needs can be met in a foreign land? A review of the events that followed the gains of Abraham’s relocation would guide us on the need to consult God before relocating, rather than seek to repent when you eventually realise that you have stepped outside the will of God.
The big problem is that everything Abraham received in Egypt later caused trouble. Because of their great wealth, Abraham and Lot could not live together and had to separate (Genesis 13:5-6). Hagar, the Egyptian maid-servant, brought division and sorrow into the home (Genesis 16). Having had a taste of Egypt (the world), Lot started measuring everything by what he saw there (Genesis 13:10-11), and this led to his downfall and the ruin of his family. All these happenings show that there are no enduring benefits from operating outside the will of God. Abraham had sojourned in the world’s kingdom and had learned the above lessons which, as it too often happens, only a bitter experience can teach. He returned a sadder, but a wiser man.
Many people in pursuit of the Golden Fleece have pushed themselves out of divine place of blessings. Like Abraham, they have left Canaan for Egypt and are now facing the consequences of their sojourn in Egypt. They tell diverse lies by cooking up fake papers to sustain their illegal stay in a foreign land. Some enter into “contract marriage” in order to secure permanent residence permit and in the process end up losing their spouse. The culture of the foreign land which forbids training children according to home culture which preserves family unity and respect for parents and elders has polluted many children to unrestricted liberty while many marriages have hit the rocks as a result of environmental influences. People nurture pains in one way or the other in a foreign land and it is actually a helpless situation.
Like Abraham, some of them are celebrating increase in financial income and acquisition of personal assets but the question to ask is at what cost to their relationship with God and their family? Many engage in destiny demoting employment for survival while some end up being fraudsters. The despicable state some of them find themselves make it even too difficult to summon courage and return to their fatherland. They left God out of their calculation in relocating to a foreign land and now have to contend with the consequences as in the case of Abraham.
To you the reader of this devotional, the practical lesson from all of this is that you should never abandon your altar when all roads to success seem blocked. Stay in fellowship with the Lord, no matter what the circumstances may be. God has a master plan for your life and when you consult Him, He will show you the way you should go. Just patiently wait for divine direction and it shall be well with you. If you have left God out of your calculation and you are facing the consequences, go back to the place where you left Him and make things right. Repent and seek His forgiveness with an open heart expecting a positive turnaround. Remember: “The victorious Christian life is a series of new beginnings.” That is not an excuse for sin, but it is an encouragement for repentance and going back to your Bethel like Abraham and the prodigal son. May the Lord grant you boldness to take a bold step of faith, in Jesus’ name.
