October 3, 2018 CAC LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE : TOPIC - NO ONE IS GOOD!

--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. TOPIC - NO ONE IS GOOD!

Read: Matthew 19:16-21
MEMORISE: So He said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments" (Matthew 19:17).

EXPOSITION
When the rich young ruler came to flatter Jesus in order to establish his own righteousness before the Lord (Matt. 19:16), Jesus quickly silenced him with the submission that there was none good here on earth, when He Himself walked and worked on the surface of this earth. Why would He say such a thing? Are we then saying He was imperfect?

He wasn’t saying that He was imperfect when here on earth, but that as a Man born of a woman, He was prone to temptations-deceits and manipulations of the devil. Yet, giving us all hope, He never fell; He never failed; He never fumbled. He made it clear that he who wants to enter into the life of God immediately and ultimately would have to keep the commandments that consist in self-denial and following the Lord (v. 21).

As a Man, He was fully tempted (Matt. 4:1ff; Lk. 4:1ff). Yet, He didn’t misbehave (Heb. 4:15,16). He knew the mind of God in His Word and lived by it. In fact, He overcame by it.

The implication is that despite that Jesus was opened to terrible trying situations (though God could have made Him to by-pass them {cf. Matt. 26:39-42}), He didn’t fall, we have the hope, assurance and precedence that we can also stand in the face of any trials/temptations, even the toughest.

We also learn that all we need do is to strive to be like Him (Matt. 5:45; 1 Pet. 1:15,16) in doing His commandments (Matt. 19:21), and rely on His Spirit and grace by and in His Word, to help in times of even the deepest needs (Matt. 11:28,29; Heb. 4:16).

PRAYER POINTS
1.  Because You didn’t fail, O Lord Jesus, I cannot fail, fumble or fell, even in the face of the toughest situations posed by the devil.
2.  Holy Spirit, I depend on and draw upon Your power and provisions to overcome Satan, sin, the flesh, and the world; help me.
3.  Lord, help believers who have relapsed into sinning due to the fall they had to be up again in You, with this encouragement that they can overcome Satan and sin as long as they rely on You and not their own strength.
