TOPIC - CONSIDER YOUR DIRECTION
Read: 1 Corinthians 13:1-8
[1]Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
[2]And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
[3]And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
[4]Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
[5]Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
[6]Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
[7]Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
[8]Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
MEMORISE: _For Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and has departed for Thessalonica_ (2 Timothy 4:10).
EXPOSITION
Direction is the line or course upon which anything is moving or aimed to move. A pilot who wants to land safely will always make good use of his compass. It is the guide he never jokes with. A Christian’s compass is the Word of God, which must be searched daily.
Christians are to go towards the directions He points at, and must not ignore its warning so as to land safely. As a Christian, a sojourner in this world, there are two destination to which one can arrive, heaven and hell. No one gets to God’s kingdom by chance, but through adequate preparation. The rule of the game must be completely and obediently observed.
Paul in 2 Timothy 4:10 recorded that Demas, because he loved this world, has deserted him and chosen to go toward a different direction. He left the faith and deserted Paul for the love of the world.
Don’t love the world, neither things in it. Lovers of worldly pleasures are not of God’s.
Remember the Great Commission is to bring sinners to the knowledge of God. Return to your Maker and your Saviour. No reason is good enough for you to abandon the truth of the gospel.
Ruth, despite the seemingly hopeless situations to which she was exposed chose to follow God and God’s people through Naomi, the mother-in-law *(Ruth 1:16)* Orpah went back and was never spoken of again. Ruth is remembered forever.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Pray that God will uphold you in the Christian faith so that you will not fall by the way.
2. Pray for those who have derailed that God will have mercy on them and bring them back to the Way of life.
3. Pray for God will revive our churches that they may fulfil the purpose for which He has called them.
