QUOTE OF THE DAY: “LITTLE PENNIES PRUDENTLY MANAGED ACCUMULATE TO MILLIONS”
ANCHOR TEXT: “When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted”.
John 6:12.
To be prudent is to be economical or cautious in managing available resources. We are not being prudent when we buy things on impulse; when we buy things we do not really need; or when we are wasteful in spending. For instance, there are people who find it difficult to negotiate price of items before purchase.
There is no wisdom in this. Similarly, you are not being prudent when you find it difficult to account for how you spend monthly or daily. God hates wasteful attitude. He hates wasteful people. He stops the flow of his resources to any wasteful person.
How do I know this? Having fed the multitude with food, He instructed that the left overs be packed into baskets. Similarly, it was recorded in Matthew 25:20 that the man that received five talents went ahead and prudently managed it and made a turnover of 100%. Therefore, in striving towards financial prudence:
- Avoid wastes in terms of time, effort, money, food and so on. Prudent people rationalize before they spend. Always negotiate the price of goods and services before making purchases.
- Do not spend recklessly. Avoid impulse buying – do not buy things just because you fancy them or because your colleagues bought them. Ask yourself; ‘do I really need this now?’

- Plan your life and your spending. Make it a point of duty to make weekly or monthly budgets in a way that your expenditure will not be more than your income. By this, you will be able to save some amount no matter how small.
