--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. TOPIC - COPING SKILLS
Read James 1:19,20

MEMORISE

So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath (James 1:19).

EXPOSITION

We have been taught scriptures like Matthew 7:1 and James 1:29, and have heard sermons on them, but how often do we practice them? We tend to forget these teachings, letting our personal emotions take control, especially when conflict arises. Let us see three biblical coping skills in managing and resolving conflicts.

Deep breathing. When you practice deep breathing, it slows down your rate of breathing, decreases the heart rate and lessens the muscle tension as you slowly relax. This in turn helps you to respond appropriately rather than reacting toward an unfavorable situation. For example, instead of blasting out angry words, you could talk rationally with the other party (cf.Prov.15:1).

Walking away from your trigger. When you feel stressed up or upset, leave the situation, take a break and come back when you are feeling calmer to face the situation appropriately (Psa. 4:4).

Indulging in a hobby, whether it is reading, writing, talking, exercising or listening to music, if you find comfort in it, it will help you get by. You can also pray to God; share your troubles with Him and seek His guidance. Remember that He cares for you (1 Pet. 5:7; cf. Prov.3:5-6).

You can have more than one coping skills, as long it helps regulate your emotions. Someone has asked: why do you think God has given two eyes, two ears but one month? When we talk less, we save ourselves from a lot of dangers and make it easier to resolve matters. Talk to the other person involved in the conflict; gain his/her understanding to mend the relationship. Do not let the sun go down on your wrath (Eph. 4:26). For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you (Matt.6:14).

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord, give me victory, over grievous and destructive anger in Jesus' name.
2. Lord, help me to control myself whenever persons or situations tend to make me angry, so that I neither misbehave nor try to justify my anger.
3. Lord, help all Christian couples struggling with uncontrolled anger in their homes to overcome it,fast in Jesus' name.
