DELILAH'S LAP IS A TRAP (1)
Read: Judges 16:4-19
MEMORISE
Then she lulled him to sleep on her knees, and called for a man and had him shave off the seven locks of his head. Then she began to torment him, and his strength left him *(judges 16:19).
EXPOSITION
When the devil is not through with trashing a careless child of God, such thinks the devil is a joker *(cf. Jn. 10:10)*. He came not to play but to make you pay and prey *(1 Pet. 5:8).* The gradual but unnoticed processes that occasioned Samson's tragedy were such that blindfolded him to his destruction. Can you imagine the head of a mighty man of valour, a judge of Israel and covenant child on the devilish Delilah's lap?
Samson
Samson fell for his own 'blind' love for the agent of the devil. This should serve as lesson to any that practices treating the covenant of God with impunity! You should be wary of the devices of the devil. He is after everyone carrying the grace and covenant of God on his/her life. The careless fall into his hands cheaply. That is why we have to be very careful with the way we live. No wonder Peter warned believers in his epistle to God's people to beware of the prowling devil *(1 Pet. 5:8,9).
S
amson, a prayer less but anointed man was busy jumping up and down with wastefulness of the anointing on him. The devil was out setting traps for that careless Samson just like he does for every Christian today and always. Only your watchfulness, fervency in prayer and knowledge of God's Word would let you scare through (Jas.1:3-7).
Dear reader, don't neglect the three ingredients (watchfulness, consistent Praying and the Word) lest you easily fall prey into the enemy's hand. God forbid! Be on your guard. Stay victorious, in Jesus' name.
