TOPIC: GOD’S OR YOUR OWN CHOICE?
Read: Genesis 3:1-7
MEMORISE: _So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate_ (Genesis 3:6).
EXPOSITION
Man is providentially faced with two or more choices whenever he finds himself in dilemma. In God’s creation, he did not deprive man of freedom and the chance to choose what he likes or wants. This was evidenced in the lives of our Patriarchs. The fact that God placed before them two different trees should not be seen as an invitation to temptation, rather, it was a way of allowing man’s liberality. He (God) does not want man to be a robot, which is manipulated before it carries out an activity. But for available alternatives, man’s life would have been regimented.
However, the fact that you have the ability to make choice does not mean you can control the consequences of your choices. All decisions/choices may look very good and pleasant, but one pertinent question is whether they are godly ones or not? Marriage is good and even commanded by God, but all its proceeding and processes must be godly if the stakeholders involved see God as its Proprietor.
Your choice of career or vocation may be the best you think you can get. But is it really God’s choice for you? God must pervade all your activities, reason being that, humans do not really know what is good for themselves, except they have His mind! If you therefore follow and allow a pervasive relationship with God, you will not make mistakes. Some have missed precious and eternal values because they considered ‘good’ but not godly choice(s) in their lives! Avoid this trend.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Oh Lord, assist me to allow You to pervade my life’s entire issues.
2. Lord, help our leaders to always seek Your opinion in all their decision making for the betterment of our world.
3 Oh Lord, come to the aid of everyone of us facing the consequences of our wrongly taken decision.
