TOPIC: STRANGERS IN THE SANCTUARIES
Read: Jeremiah 51:51-56
MEMORISE: _For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?_ (1 Peter 4:17).
EXPOSITION
Today’s Scripture shows that the LORD’S people (Israelites) were invaded, subdued and devoured by the Babylonians, because their God gave them up. Truly, they were covered with shame, for it was a terrible thing that uncircumcised men intruded the Holy Place reserved for the priests alone: _For strangers have come into the sanctuaries of the Lord’s house_ (Jer. 51:51).
Everywhere we turn today, we see things that cause sorrow especially in the way ungodly men are acquiring theological education and entering the ministry! How fearful it is that church ordinances are administered by many unconverted souls, and abominations are seated at the church altar! An unsaved community of unconverted men and women are adulterating the 21st century Church, polluting her well (water source), pouring water upon her fire, and sowing her fertile field with stones (heresies).
With the picture above, are you a saint or stranger in the sanctuary? You need grace today, to maintain the purity of the Church as a saint, and not a stranger.
The Babylonians were eventually destroyed, and God’s people delivered. On the lone run, the Lord’s sanctuaries shall be thoroughly purged; no doubt, because the way is narrow and the gate is strait. And now, yourself daily, seeing to it that your wedding garment is original, unspotted and pure, fitting for a seat at the Lord’s Table at His return (Matt. 22:11-13).
He who smote Uzzah for touching the ark, is very jealous over His church and her ordinances–dogma and discipline. Cease to be/live as an alien in His sanctuary. Heart searching is the duty of all who profess salvation and are baptized into Christ.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Search me, oh God, and know my way; try me and know my heart.
2. Make me, oh Lord, Your shining light in/to my generation.
3. Purge Your altar, oh Lord, of all strangers.
