C.A.C SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON FOR JUNE 24, 2018. LESSON TWELVE : TOPIC - JESUS CONTINUES LOVING AFTER RESURRECTION

--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. C.A.C SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON FOR JUNE 24, 2018.  LESSON TWELVE  : TOPIC - JESUS CONTINUES LOVING AFTER RESURRECTION

C.A.C SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON

JUNE 24, 2018.
LESSON TWELVE

JESUS CONTINUES LOVING AFTER RESURRECTION

Jesus kept monitoring the disciples after the resurrection. And He eventually sent His Holy Spirit, in fulfillment of His promise of love.

MEMORY SCRIPTURE
I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also (John 14:18,19).

BRIEF COMMENT
True love is powerful and perfect. No amount of water can quench the fire of true love. The true love with which Christ loves His disciples made Him to make the declarative statements, that is serving the purpose of our memory scripture for this particular lesson. Because He loved them... He says, "I will not leave you orphans", "I will come to you". Again, for His love for them,... He says that while the world will no longer see Him, they would continue to see Him. Also, because He loved them,... they would live just as He continues to live on. This is quite amazing. It is Jesus alone, that could demonstrate such a matchless love. He was actually true to this word motivated by love, because He went out searching for them, after resurrection, according to this lesson. Jesus is our example. Love can never be too much, except if it is not enough. Love! Love!! Love!!!

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
1.    The resurrected Lord loves His disciples with a perfect and undying love.
2.    Jesus continues to shower His unexplainable love on them (disciples), even after His resurrection and beyond.

AIM AND OBJECTIVES
AIM: This lesson aims at showing that the love of Jesus for His disciples continues after He resurrected.

OBJECTIVES: By the end of this lesson, the learners should have:
i.   discovered that nothing but genuine love motivated the risen Lord to be on the lookout for His straying disciples;
ii.  Known that because of love, Jesus came from glory to search and redeem sinners, and He is never tired on the lookout for the backsliders with the love message; and
iii.  Known that, as a show of His love, Christ has fulfilled the promise of the Father (Holy Spirit ) to us all.

INTRODUCTION
TEXTUAL SOURCE: JOHN 21:1-19; ACT 1:8; 2:1-25
Glory, honor and adoration to God for the release of timely, soul-lifting, and destiny-moulding spiritual information for the Church, through the instrumentality of His Word. Through these wonderful Words of Mighty God, we understand the way better, day-by-day. This lesson marks the end of this Sunday school series (January to June, 2018). The previous lesson is the eleventh in the series. It centers on Jesus' Atoning Love and narrates how our Lord Jesus willing offered Himself as a ransom for the sin of the world, by which He offered a sweet smelling sacrifice to God, once and for all. This is love in the practical way as demonstrated (not defined) by the Lord.

Today's lesson is the last, but not the least in the series. It reveals the extent of the love of Jesus Christ for His disciples. Does the love that brought Jesus to the world, and led Him to the Cross, end at Calvary? No. It is an endless love that continues, even after His resurrection. He searched for some of them who had decided to go their own way and brought them back to the business. This is true love. May the Lord help us to know and understand the power of His love to us, so that we can become the catalyst to join in spreading His love abroad in Jesus' name. Amen.

INTRODUCTION TO THE DIVISION
DIVISION I: JESUS CONTINUES LOVING AFTER RESURRECTION
This is the only division in this lesson. It is out to tackle the issue of the continuity of Jesus' love for His disciples, after t
He might have resurrected. It would be handled under two different headings (a) He supervised the scattered disciples (b) He ensured the Holy Spirit's descent. The Bible texts picked to facilitate the effective discussion of this lesson are John 21:1-19 and Act 1:8; 2:1-25 respectively. It promises to be wonderful, life-changing and God-glorifying, as we encounter the wonderful love of Jesus.

LESSON OUTLINE
1.   JESUS CONTINUES LOVING AFTER RESURRECTION
A.    HE SUPERVISED THE SCATTERED DISCIPLES
B.    HE ENSURED THE HOLY SPIRIT DESCENT

LESSON EXPOSITION
Jun. 24 | I. JESUS CONTINUES LOVING AFTER RESURRECTION
There are marital loves that have waned. If not, why are there cases of divorce in marriages all over the world? However, we vividly can see through the life of Jesus that true love never waned, no matter the circumstance. His love is the eternal, undying and endless kind of love tat made Him to be on the lookout for sinners today, just as He concluded and restored His straying disciples after His resurrection.

A.   HE SUPERVISED THE SCATTERED DISCIPLES (Jn. 21:1-19)
After these things Jesus showed Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, and in this way He showed Himself (v. 1).
i.   Jesus had appeared to His disciples on different occasions, after resurrection. This time would be the third time (v. 14). Love is the reason behind this (Jn. 20:11-30).
ii.    vv. 1-3: Simon Peter misdirected and took them out of Jesus' plan and programme. Their efforts met with nothing, but fruitfulness as a result.
iii.    vv. 4-6: Jesus showed love to them once again, as He always does (Lk. 5:1-11). Saying children here is a sign of His tender love for them. He didn't scold them, rather, He drew them by His love. Great opportunity awaits sinners, and errant children (cf. Lk. 15:11-24)!
iv. 7-14: Come and eat breakfast... not minding their is nothing but love per excellence, and it is a challenge to us today.
v.    vv. 15-19: Nothing was more important for Him than for them to be restored. He succeeded in restoring and re-directing Peter. Remember He had prayed for him ahead.
vi.   Jesus did this to showcase His true love, give focus, fulfill His promise and glorify God. The continuity of the job He started is also paramount in His heart.
vii.   Love covers multitude of sins. The love of Jesus for His disciples and by extension, believers today, is extra-ordinary. A true and loving mother knows how to gently and lovingly nurture a young child, till he grows to maturity. That is exactly what Jesus did for His disciples, after He had risen. He continues to supervise and direct them persuasively and mildly, until they would be able to rise to fulfill His will.

B.    HE ENSURE THE HOLY SPIRIT'S DESCENT (Act 1:8; 2:1-25)
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (2:4).
i.     Jesus had promised not to leave His disciples as orphans. The implication is, they would not be made to suffer, directionless and helpless. He would ensure the Holy Spirit come (Lk. 24:49; Jn. 14:16-18; 15:26-27; 16:7-15).
ii.    Jesus made the promise because He dearly loved them and would do anything for their well-being. He eventually fulfilled it, because love does not forget commitments (2 Sam. 3:13-16).
iii.    1:8: Jesus told them the expediency of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. For His unflinching love for them, He was ensuring that they get the power of Holy Spirit. This would facilitate the continuity of the assignment.
iv.   1:1-12: The disciples waited as instructed, and He kept His words. They gradually began to understand, reciprocate and abide in His love (Jn. 15:9,10). In perfect obedience alone can we enjoy the love of Jesus.
v.   2:1ff: When the day of Pentecost had fully come... Jesus fulfilled what He had already told them about the Holy Spirit. He is too loving to disappoint or let down.

LESSON DERIVED
1.    Jesus' love for His disciples did not end at Calvary. He searched for, and restored them in love.
2.    Jesus ensured that the Holy Spirit came to live with them because He would not want them to suffer as orphans.

QUESTIONS
1.    Discuss the extent of Jesus' love for His disciples. Can we do that today?
2.   What is the essence of ensuring the coming of the Holy Spirit?
3.   Man must reciprocate and appreciate the love of God. Explain.

LIFE APPLICATION
Universally, the symbol of love is the heart. The heart is the centre of human existence. It is the seat of will, emotion and power. It supplies blood to all other parts of the body. The medical practitioners understand the significance of the heart to life. The way God designed the heart and the location is suggesting the value He places on it. The continuous functioning of the heart is the best thing that could happen to life. We pray not to experience the other side. Yet, there is nothing we can do about that, because of the inevitability of death. Love is in the heart. Jesus carried His disciples always in His heart, no wonder that He located and relocated and restored them after His resurrection. Love cares and shows concern for others. Continue to carry some people in your heart from today, just as Jesus did for the disciples He so much loved and cherished.

CONCLUSION
Today, we come to the end of this twelve lesson series of the Sunday school, by the special grace of God. The experience all through has been wonderful and glorious, we shall continue to enjoy the grace of God through His Word in Jesus' name, and this bright sun of righteousness will not by any means wane, in Jesus' name. We have been taught thoroughly, by Holy Spirit, through all the human agents He laid His hand upon to practically demonstrate love, following the Love God demonstrated from the beginning of creation. God has continued to love, as Jesus was never tire to show love to His disciples, even after resurrection. We are therefore charged to love continuously in actions not in mere word. The grace and power to do this, God will give to us. Remember, the only sign with which the world can prove that we are Christ's disciple is loving one another. May your love tank never run dry in Jesus name.
