Daily Hope Season 1 Episode 12: Topic - Your Eternal Reward
Have you ever thought about your eternal reward? You know that crown that you will receive in heaven? As we live on earth we have opportunities to receive an immediate reward in the form of praise or we can delay that reward and receive it from God in heaven. Jesus is very clear which one we should work for.
Matthew 6:1,3
Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven… But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
Keep It Subtle
In today’s world, even the simplest act of kindness goes viral on Facebook. Millions of people will watch a video of a semi-good deed and applaud it. Everything has to be noticed and praised. No good deed goes unpublished. Yet Jesus is very clear in the Sermon On the Mount that our acts of charity are to be in private. He uses the analogy of our left-hand not knowing what our right hand is doing. The act of kindness is so subtle not even you notice it. Doing this will store up your eternal reward.
Deferred Reward
We are working for a reward that is eternal. God has put that desire to be kind and do good works in your heart. We want to stand before Jesus and hear him say “Well done though good and faithful servant, enter into your reward.” We need to have a heavenly mindset when it comes to recognition. The reward deferred is always better than the immediate one. Now go and do them as if He was the only one in the audience watching. Work for your eternal reward.
