--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. YOUTH SEARCH THE SCRIPTURE

LESSON 1004

GOD: THE SUPREME KING AND JUDGE

Memory Verse: "The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved. Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting" (Psalm 93: I ,2). TEXT: Psalms 92: I-IS; 93:1-5; 94:1-23; 95:1-11; 96:1-13; 97:1-12; 98:1-9; 99:1-9

The eternal supremacy of God is incontestable. The psalmist gives an account of His wonderful works and covenant with man, which should form the basis of our worship. The focus of this study is to expatiate the purpose and power of praise, the personality and position of God and the believers' benefits in His presence.

Question 1: How often and why should Christian youths sing praises to God?

"It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to Sing praises unto thy name, O most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night" (Psalm 92: I ,2). From the knowledge of God's preeminence' and splendour, Christian youths are expected to freely and constantly sing praises to God. Praising God is one of the major reasons for the creation of man (Revelation 1) and everyone is expected to submit to His Majesty (Isaiah 43:21). Praising God is the exaltation of High status importance A quality that outshines the usual His attributes; it depicts total submission to His supremacy and might. Therefore, this study seeks to draw the attention of every saved youth to the need to glorify God for who He is and His everlasting love.

THE MELODY OF PRAISE TO THE SUPREME KING (Psalms 92:1-15; 95:1-7; 96:1-12; 98:.4-9; 89:1; 103:1-6; 147: 1; 40:5; Romans 11:33; Isaiah 65:22; Deuteronomy 32:4; Proverbs 2:8; 1 Corinthians 6:20)

"It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night" (Psalm 92: 1 , 2). Thanksgiving and praise worship to God should be a normal lifestyle and culture for every Christian youth irrespective of their condition. Some of the reasons for giving thanks and praising God highlighted in the text are: one, His loving kindness (Psalm 92:2). God's kindness is not like man's. Man gives to receive in return but God's kindness is borne out of His nature of love. Love made Jesus to sacrifice Himself for our salvation. Two, His greatness and great works (Psalm 92:5). Three, His victory and dominion over the enemy (Psalm 92:9-11). Four, for making the righteous to flourish (Psalm 92:12-14). Five, His uprightness (Psalm 92:15). In addition, God deserves praises for His faithfulness. He does not renegel on His covenant or promises. "God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" (Numbers 23:19). Praise to God is essential because He reigns as the most High forever. He remains everlasting in His position and place. We have the responsibility, therefore, to "Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people" (Psalm 96:3). The greatness of the Lord is beyond description. "Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary" (Psalrn 96:6).

Question 2: What should be the attitude Of saved youths during challenges?

"I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ" (Psalm 34: l; Ephesians 5:20). Christian youths should not feel that God is only to be praised after a miracle, success, promotion or breakthrough. The Bible teaches that our praises to God should not be limited to good times. "The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall nourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and nourishing; To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him" (Psalm 92:12-15).

THE MAJESTY OF GOD AND HIS SURE TESTIMONY (Psalms 93:1-5; 97:1-12; 99:1-5; 89: 14; 65:5-8; Jude 1:14, 15; Micah 36:5; Revelation 15:4}

"The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved. Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting" (Psalm 93: 1 , 2). The sovereign power of God has no limitation. It spans through many ages and generations and has not diminished in worth. Thrones of men do not last forever. None is superior to God. He decides how the world operates and controls the earth. He is a great King and above all gods. "For thou, LORD, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods" (Psalm 97:9). Nothing can qualify and quantify the magnitude of God's greatness. It overwhelms the entire universe. "In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also. The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land. For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep Of his hand..." (Psalm 95:4,5,7). He has the highest royal sea and structure. In His domain lies strength and beauty. "Honour and Majesty are before him: strength and  beauty are in his sanctuary" (Psalm 90:0).

Question 3: What Some Of the attributes Of God's sovereign power?

"And men shall speak Of the might Of thy terrible acts: And will declare thy greatness" (Psalm 145:6). It is necessary tov every youth to recognise the sovereignty and majesty of God to give the worship and praise due to Him. Some of His attributes include:

(1) He is from everlasting and His throne is established of old (Psalm 93:2).

(2) He is higher than the mighty waves of the sea (Psalm 93:4).

(3) Righteousness and judgment are the habitation Of his throne" (Psalm 97:2).

(4) "Fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about" (Psalm 97:3).

(5) His lightnings enlightened the world and made the earth tremble. (Psalm 97:4).

(6) The hills melted like wax at His presence (Psalm 97:5)

(7) Heavens declare  his righteousness and all the people see His glory (Psalm 97:6).

Question 4: As King of kings, what should be the attitude of youths to God's word?

"Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O Lord, for ever" (Psalm 93:5). The word of God is referred to as testimonies and commandments, which are very sure. Christian youths are expected to value, respect and hold on to the teachings of Christ; for in doing so will they lead a holy life. "The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making vise the simple" (Psalm 19:7). In support of this, Christ prayed to God for His disciples: them through thy truth: thy word is truth" (John 17: 17). To maximally benefit from the word of God, you must consciously read it, carefully meditate on it, constantly practice it and courageously preach it.

THE MANNER OF HIS JUDGMENT AND SALVATION PLAN (Psalms 94:1-23; 9811-3; 67:4; 1 Samuel 12:22)

God blesses those that submit to His lordship. Believers are to take their eyes off the wickedness of the world because He has promised rest for His children if they remain faithful in the day of adversity. Though, Christian youths may not seem to understand why negative situations come their way, the psalmist encourages them not to fret or be discouraged. Saved youths are peculiar and important people to God; as a result. He will not forsake them in times of difficulties (Deuteronomy 31:6; Hebrews I Peter 2:9). "He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?" (Psalm 94:9). Nothing is hidden from God. No one should think he can plan and do evil against his neighbour and go scot free. Likewise, the proud in heart and those who oppress others for one reason or the other will surely face the full wrath of God. "And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off' (Psalm 94:23).

Question 5: What should be the response Of sinners and saints to God's verdict?

"Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences" (2 Corinthians 5:11). God expects every born again youth to reach out in love with the gospel message to the ungodly and warn them of the impending judgement on their evil deeds. In like manner, whoever finds him/herself to be proud, oppressing others or wicked should repent and forsake these acts. "Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work" (Psalm 95:8,9). "The LORD hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen" (Psalm 98:2). God's salvation plan has been concluded in Christ's vicarious death at Calvary This is the fulfilment of His love to humanity to show that "He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God" (Psalm 98:3). As a result of His mercy, God pronounced, "...I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day Of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation" (2 Corinthians 6:2). Every youth must remember that God is Of a purer eyes than to behold evil (Hebrews 1 : 13). "How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him" (Hebrews 2:3). Before your prayers and praises are accepted by God, you must be free from sin. Christian youths are expected to devote their strength to God in service and hate evil. having the assurance that the souls of the righteous are preserved and delivered from the hands of the wicked (Psalm 97:10). Praises and spiritual songs are highly expected of God's children. Whenever one remembers His holiness, goodness, righteousness and faithfulness, true praise and joy should spring forth from the heart. "Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice" (Philippians 4:4).
