Title: The Lord is Our Shepherd
( Psalm 23 :1-6) The Lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen and Amen.
The Lord Almighty is our great shepherd. A shepherd is a person who protects, guides, or watches over a person or group of people. A shepherd is constantly, very busy watching the flock making sure non of them falls into danger, making sure non of them starves or dies. The shepherd makes sure his flocks are well nourished and in good mental and physical condition. David spent his early years caring for sheep, he knew the pain it took him to care for these sheep, when he was watching over them making sure that other wild animals and other devouring powers would not come and harm those sheep. Those sheep were depending on him for safety , provision and guidance.
The Bible refers to Jesus as our good shepherd. (John 10:11-14) I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep, so when he sees the wolf coming , he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me.
The Lord is our good shepherd, we are His sheep. We should not entertain any fear, no matter the amount of traits coming from the enemy, we should not fear. The sheep depends totally on the shepherd. We have to totally depend on Jesus. Let us allow Him to be in control. Let us obediently follow Him. We are safe in Him when we put our trust in Him and listen to His instructions. He laid His life for us, what else can He not do for us.
When we allow God, our shepherd to guide us, we will not miss the track , but when we try to shepherd ourselves, we are taking risk. This world is not predictable, life is not predictable, the wolves are all over the place, the moment we try to shift from the guidance of our Lord Jesus, the wolf is ready to tear up the person. When we chose life outside the good and great shepherd Jesus. Living outside the guidance of our good shepherd will lead to sinful life, whatever happens to the person who has chosen not to follow Jesus, the person will have themselves to blame.
Our Shepherd knows the environment, He knows the green pastures and quiet waters that will restore us. We will get to our green pastures and quiet waters only when we follow His leadings and obediently. Disobedience to the leading of our good shepherd is not the best for our lives. He cares for us and our relationship with Him is from here on earth to eternity. He is also preparing a mansion for us, He is training us and preparing us for the life to come. He is preparing us a place where there will be no sickness. No hunger, no pain, no sorrow or death. May the Lord help us to follow Him obediently to the end in Jesus name. My dear Brother/ sister, if you miss heaven , you will not miss hail. Let the mercy of God keep us faithful till the end in Jesus name. Amen.
Prayers: father thank you for your favor to see this new month of May. Thank you Jesus for being a great provider, and the lover of my soul.
