Title: Jesus is calling today
Following Jesus attracts a lot of benefits.
John 1: 43 The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Phillip, He said to him follow me. This is how Jesus called all His disciples . This verse of the Bible is telling us how Phillip was called. As soon as Jesus called Him to follow Him, he did not hesitate but he followed Jesus without giving Him excuses not even asking Jesus where they were going.
No prior notice no scheduled meeting, Jesus randomly called Phillip and he did not hesitate to follow him. He did not even tell Jesus To wait for him to go and notify his family, or go and think about it. Philip knew the benefit that was in Christ, that was why he did not hesitate to follow Jesus. Vs 44. Phillip did not only follow Jesus but he also went and called Nathaniel to come and see.
Philip found Nathaniel and told him, we have found the one Moses wrote about in the law, and about whom the prophets also wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. Philip started to spread the gospel right there and then. He did not wait to count how much he was going to make following Jesus. He did not think about who was going to take care of his family when he couldn’t work.
It is amazing how he was able to follow Jesus, not even asking Jesus where they were going to. He trusted that Jesus will show him the right part, he trusted that Jesus will satisfy his needs, that was why he followed him with no question asked. As soon as he was called he started the ministry wow!! .
The people in the Bible days were very faithful. In this our generation when we are called to come and follow Jesus we will begin to negotiate or ask how much we will get for following him. We will begin to count our monthly income, and begin to compare it with how much we are going to make in serving Jesus, without calculating the spiritual gain we are going to have, without realizing that serving Jesus will give us the opportunity to reign eternity with Christ, that serving Jesus is more and better rewarding than , the temporary wealth we have here on earth, without understanding that everything we have here on earth is temporary, but heaven is real and eternal .
We are feeling reluctant to follow Him, but we forget to realize that He is the one who owns our time and our lives. Child of God, how have you responded to Jesus calls to you today? Are you still undecided? Have you responded to his call to follow Him? You might be thinking that He has not called you. Yes He has called you to follow Him. Revelation 3:20 Behold I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come into him and eat with that person , and they with me. Child of God , Jesus is inviting you this day to come to Him. Can you answer the call today? (Revelation 22:17 ).
The Spirit and the bride say “Come” And let the one who hears say “Come” let the one who is tasty come, let the one who desires take the water of life without prize. Child of God are you still undecided to answer this call? Make a step of faith today and answer this call of Jesus unto salvation and your life will never remain the same. As you answer this call , try and call somebody like a Phillip did, and other disciples did.
If you have tasted the goodness of God try and share with others. Christ died for you and called you to come to Him, try and call your friends and family to come and taste the goodness of the Lord. I pray that after reading this text today you will be blessed in Jesus name.
I gave my life for thee, My precious blood I shed, that thou might’st ransomed be, And quickened from the dead; I gave my life for thee , what hast though given for me???
Jesus is asking?? Decide today my beloveth and avoid regretting tomorrow. God bless you.
Prayers: Father please help me to have a willing heart to follow you in Jesus name. Let your light shine in my life to behold your glory. Please Lord give me the strength and wisdom to follow your footsteps in Jesus. Bless me today and use me to be a blessing to people around me in Jesus name. Wherever I go please let your presence go with me in Jesus precious name I pray. Amen and amen.
