RCCG Sunday School TEACHER’s Manual For April 19, 2020 Lesson 34 : Topic – Destiny Destroyer

--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. MEMORY VERSE: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” – Jeremiah 29:11

BIBLE PASSAGE: 1 Kings 11:1-11 KJV (RCCG Sunday School TEACHER’s Manual 19 April 2020)

1 But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites;

2 Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.

3 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.

4 For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.

5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

6 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.

7 Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.

8 And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.

9 And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,

10 And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.

11 Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.

INTRODUCTION:

Destiny is God’s purpose for a man’s life. It is a divinely pre-planned destination. It is the totality of God’s counsel for a person and what God has decided concerning a person even before conception (Jer.1:5).

As good as it is, at several points in life, it still depends on one’s attitude and agreement with God. God has a prepared destination for us and we must surrender totally to Him so as to avoid destiny destroyers that may want to scuttle God’s plan for our lives (Jer.29:11).

TEXT REVIEW: 1 Kings 11:1-11

“Solomon clave unto these in love. And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart”. – 1 Kings 11:2-3

ACTIVITY: Teacher should identify the acts and consequences of Solomon in the light of marriages to 700 wives and three hundreds concubines from the bible passages.

LESSON OUTLINES

1. SOME DESTINY DESTROYERS

A Teacher should state the seven (7) destiny destroyers as indicated below:

i. LACK OF KNOWLEDGE: Lack of knowledge is a destiny destroyer (Hosea 4:6; Proverbs 29:18). If we are aware of our destiny, we shall be free, focused and fulfilled. Failure to do so may lead to destruction. John 8:32; Isa.61-9; Heb.11:13.
ii. PURSUIT OF VANITY: Solomon pursued so much of vanity until he became a complete backslider. The privileges of wealth and lack of self-control ruined his destiny (Eccl.2:10-1, 1 Kings 11:1-10).
iii. LACK OF FAITH: Lack of faith is also a destiny destroyer (Hebrews 4:2; 1 Tim. 1:19).
iv. PRIDE: Pride is excessive self-esteem. It is when you are filled with an exciting sense of credit due to yourself. Pride is a sin and it leads to loss and destruction (James 4:6; Dan. 4:28-32; Prov.29:23)
v. SINFUL LIFESTYLES: Sins not confessed and forsaken are dangerous because they provoke God to anger. A man who is living in sin cannot fulfill his destiny or attain destination which God has promised (1 John 3:4).
vi. ANGER: Anger is another destiny destroyer. Uncontrolled emotional outburst has led many people out of God’s purpose for their lives (Eccl.7:9; Pro.29:22).
vii. PRAYERLESSNESS: Prayerlessness is can cause the enemy to take advantage of a man’s destiny (Matt. 13:25; 26:41; Luke 18:21).

B. Teacher should ask students to explain how the following can assist to support or fulfil destiny.
i. Knowledge
ii. Contentment
iii. Faith
iv. Humility
v. Holiness
vi. Meekness
vii. Prayerlessness

C Teachers should note that the above seven factors are opposite of earlier identified destiny destroyers. Encourage students to migrate from destiny destroyers to destiny fulfilling factors.

2. BIBLICAL INSTANCES
A. Teacher should observe that the destiny of the following people were destroyed.

i. Solomon. 1 Kings 11:1-11
ii. Samson. Judges 16:6-18
iii. Judas Iscariot. Luke 22:2-5, Matt.27:3-5
iv. Demas. 2 Tim.4:10
v. Gehazi. 2 Kings 5:20-27
vi. Reuben. Genesis 49:3-4
vii. Achan. Joshua 7:24-25

B. Teacher should raise discussion on what these seven personality should have done to prevent their destinies from being destroyed.
For instance: ACHAN
i. Achan could have heeded Joshua’s instructions not to touch an accursed thing.
ii. Achan should not have stolen
iii. Achan should have faced his assignment of fighting the war.
iv. Achan should have trusted God for raiment, etc.

SUMMARY: Students should avoid the destiny destroyers.

CONCLUSION: Do only those things which the bible support and you are on your way to fulfill destiny.

EVALUATION: What are those things that can destroy destiny?

CLOSING PRAYER: Father, deliver me from destiny destroyers.

ASSIGNMENT: Give ten (10) examples of people who fulfilled destiny with relevant bible passages.
