Anglican Church Of Nigeria Weekly Sunday School/ Bible Studies Manual For October 13, 2019 : TOPIC - Introduction to Godly Leadership and Christian Discipleship

--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. INTRODUCTION:
Christian discipleship is one area the Church today must pay a close attention.
It has to do with raising true or genuine Disciples of Christ. Incidentally, the
Church has struggled hard for success with this for many reasons. This study
shows the need to have godly leadership in place before any meaningful
discipleship labour can be done in the Church. For the purpose of this study,
‘godly leadership’ means leadership that has set its heart on the holy pursuit of
God and His purposes.

STUDY GUIDE
1. Explain in your own words what you understand as ‘Godly leadership’ and
‘Christian Discipleship’.
2. What do you learn from these examples of godly leadership and discipleship
in Exod. 17:14; 24:12-15; 33:11; Num. 11:27-30; Jos.1:1- ?2
3. How is godly leadership relevant to Christian Discipleship? Num. 11:27-29;
2 Kings 12:1-2; 2 Tim.1:3-6 .
4. In the light of the discussion so far, how can the Church of Nigeria achieve
its desire for effective discipleship in her Churches/members?

CONCLUSION: Without godly leadership in our Churches, the pursuit of
Christian Discipleship will continue to be a mirage. Engagement in discipleship
calls for concern-effort to critically re-examine ourselves in the light of what is
the core pursuit of the leadership of our Church.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:Godly leadership is the ferment for a fervent Christian
Discipleship.
