Spirit Meat Daily Devotional For August 20, 2019 : Topic - UNDERSTANDING THE PROCESS OF FAITH (1) - ROMANS 10:17
A process is a CONTINUOUS SET of ACTIONS PERFORMED INTENTIONALLY IN ORDER to obtain a particular or some RESULTS. Let me explain in detail the definition of the process of faith by taking you through some of the key words in the above definition.
Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen…” This talks of two things that reveal the practicality of faith: Evidence of things hoped for and Substance of things not seen. The evidence and substance will come through a process.
CONTINUOUS: Faith goes on and on. Romans 10:17, says faith comes- you don’t finish hearing for faith and you don’t ever get to a level of “ALL FAITH ACQUIRED” and then cease from hearing. Faith stops when the hearing of faith stops. Hearing must continue for faith to continue, so it means one can backslide in faith.
Set: The process comprises of chains of events. It is ugly without one step, so for complete impact and beauty, all events must happen. Isaiah 1:19, says “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.” Being willing without obedience or obedience without willingness will not result in eating the good.
Tomorrow, we will pick up from here and look at other key ingredients that are needed for your faith to find full expression.
PRAYER: Lord, I pray for the grace to live out a real and thriving faith life by completing the set of events needed in Jesus’ name. Amen!
BIBLE IN A YEAR: Esther 8:1-10:3, 1 Corinthians 12:27-13:13, Psalm 37:1-11, Proverbs 21:23-24
