DCLM Daily Manna Devotional For August 16, 2019 : Topic - Living To Eat

--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. Topic - Living To Eat

Text: Ecclesiastes 10:16-20 (KJV)
16 Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning!
17 Blessed art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!

18 By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through.
19 A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things.
20 Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and curse not the rich in thy bedchamber: for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter.
Key Verse: “Blessed art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!” (Ecclesiastes 10:17).
MESSAGE:
According to Web MD, an online medical advisory website, Bulimia nervosa, is an eating disorder that involves bingeing on food followed by purging, escalating gum disease, osteoporosis, kidney disease, heart disease and death. On the other hand, Anorexia nervosa is another eating disorder in which people have an intense fear of gaining weight and can become dangerously thin because they eat less than is normal to keep a normal weight. Both cases are predominant in advanced societies where to eat a square meal is no big deal.
In today’s reading, we are figuratively told that it is childish and immature for rulers to be preoccupied with binge eating or drunkenness for the sake of it. We are also given the very purpose of eating and when it is appropriate to eat. For those who live to eat, they end up becoming slothful and projects that would have been accomplished are left to chance. It is pitiful when people who have too much live only to satisfy themselves, when actually there are countless underprivileged people around them who can afford so little or nothing.
Staggering data from World Food Aid Foundation shows that one in seven people go hungry while one third of foods is wasted. That means some 795 million people in the world do not have enough food to lead a healthy active life while there are yet others who have too much for themselves and their families. Sadly enough, those who have too much tend to show little or no compassion on children and other vulnerable groups.
We are stewards of whatever privileges we have in life. And when our income increases, we should seek to also increase our impact on those who are less fortunate. Rather than flaunt a lavish lifestyle that can only support our carnal cravings, we should seek to be a channel of blessing to the hungry around us.
Thought For The Day: When income increases, improve your standard of giving rather than your standard of living.
