Three truths are evident from today’s Bible passage. There are good works which God pre-planned beforehand, paths prepared ahead of time for us to walk in and the good life we were chosen to live. These three truths flow together.

There are good works that God has chosen for you in the calling.  The works may be varied but they are complimentary in the programme of God and there are paths that God has prepared before time and as you walk on those paths doing the good works that God wants you to do, you will live the good life.  
Let God be the one to define “the good life” for you. Many people have pierced themselves with many sorrows attempting to live what unsaved people define as the good life. When all believers walk the path of God, all will live the good life. An Apostle will not live a better life than someone who disciples new converts; as long as both are doing the good works that God wants them to do. The believer that God calls to be a financier of the kingdom will have more financial results than another He has called to be a missionary. God’s measure of judging the success of these two people will vary and believers need to understand this.
Believers and ministers of God alike need to seek the face of God to measure their progress in the light of God’s purpose and not from the standpoint of peers. Don’t execute a calling out of ego, insecurity or inferiority complex; instead base your service and pursuit on the purpose of God, on understanding and as an outflow of your walk with the Father.

PRAYER: Lord, deliver me from vain glory. Open my eyes that I may see myself in the light of your assessment of my walk with You in Jesus’ name.
