Anglican Church Of Nigeria Weekly Sunday School/ Bible Studies Manual For June 30, 2019 : TOPIC - SOME BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF GODLY LEADERSHIP : Moses and Joshua .

--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. MEMORY VERSE : Joshua 1: 5

TEXT: Hebrews 11: 24-30 .

AIMS: To help participants

i. identify some godly leadership traits in Moses and Joshua ;
ii. appreciate the significance of the working out of godly virtues .

INTRODUCTION:

Moses and Joshua played very significant roles in Israel's march toward
nationhood. Both of them received distinct calls from God to lead His Covenant
people. Whereas Moses championed their forceful exit from their Egyptian
bondage and led them through the wilderness, Joshua took them into the
Promised Land. This study examines some of the qualities which distinguished
Moses and Joshua in their leadership, and how we can appropriate same for
the multivariate leadership responsibilities we are saddled with today .

STUDY GUIDE:

1. Which personality traits may have led to the appointments of Moses and
Joshua by God as leaders? Exod. 2:11; 18:24; Josh. 24: 14-15, Heb. 11:
24-26 .
2. How will you describe their personal relationships with God, and in what
ways did these help them in their leadership? Exod. 20: 18-21; Num. 12:
5-8; Jos. 1: 5; 24: 14-15; Heb. 3: 5 .
3. What leadership roles or traits portray Moses and Joshua as godly leaders?
Exod.24:12-14; 33:11; Num.12:1-8; 27:1ff; Heb.11:24-2 .7
4. Read Exodus 17:8-13 .
a. Discuss the nature of the relationship between Moses and Joshua and
highlight a fundamental principle for excelling in leadership .
b. How have leaders fared in this regard in our churches/dioceses?

CONCLUSION:

Moses' privileged opportunity of growing up in Pharaoh's court,
and his subsequent vocation as a shepherd, and Joshua’s position as Moses'
assistant were sufficient bases for learning the skills that enabled them excel
as leaders. We must learn to optimally harness whatever opportunities we have
to equip ourselves for future responsibilities.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT :

Moses raised Joshua as a worthy successor. Do you
have a successor?
