TOPIC - Are You A Torchbearer? 
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Chronicles 1-3; John 5:25-47
FIRE SCRIPTURE: Matthew 5:14-16
MEMORY VERSE: “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” – John 8:12

The MESSAGE:
A torchbearer is one who leads and inspires others towards a goal and brings enlightenment, as well as truth. Similarly, a torchbearer is a leader, trailblazer, initiator, originator, pioneer, catalyst, mover and shaker, rising star, trendsetter, path breaker, print man, early adopter, link man.
Once a torchbearer is mentioned, the first thing that comes to mind is the Olympic torch/flame which is the symbol of Olympic Games. The fire keeps burning throughout the celebration of the games in ancient Greece. As the flame identifies with the ideal of the game so also a Christian is encouraged to be a light of the gospel. John the Baptist came to bear witness of the light that all through him might believe.
Since Jesus is the Light of the world, we should imitate Him and walk in the light as children of light. Our lives should be serperated from the fruitless works of darkness by living wisely and exemplarily, taking every opportunity to do well and minister the gospel of truth.
The works of darkness consist of greed, lust, and evil, the pursuit of poor, killing, envy, and rivalry. We are called from these works of darkness to be light in the evil world system because we are children of God.
Are you a torchbearer? Do you bear the light of God? Is your life illuminating the world for Christ? Do you live a life that is exemplary? Do you live a life that shows that Christ lives in you and a life capable of leading others to the Light, which is Christ Jesus?
God is telling us that by His grace, through our renewed lives as Christians (born again children of God), we are capable of stopping the impetus of iniquity. Also, we have a triumphant life, a life full of God-given victory, ready to stop the wickedness of this end time.
We must, as a matter of necessity, walk in the light of God and be torchbearers for our Lord Jesus Christ who is the Light of the world.

  4. O Lord, deliver me from satanic noise, in the name of Jesus.
  5. O Lord, deliver me from the tumult of people, in the name of Jesus.
  6. My head will not be anchored to evil, in the name of Jesus.
  7. Let the mighty hand of God be upon me for good, in the name of Jesus.
