TOPIC - The Invasion of Jezebel
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Judges 13-15; Luke 6:27-49
FIRE SCRIPTURE: Revelation 2:20-23
MEMORY VERSE: “But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.” – 1 Kings 21:25

The MESSAGE:
When we mention Jezebel, the average believer would look out for a woman dressing indecently. The Lord, in this passage, is telling us that Jezebel is far more than indecent dressing. A church may be zealous for Christ and their works characterised by faith, love, and patience but unknowingly, might have been terribly invaded by Jezebel spirit. We must realise that no amount of love and sacrificial works can compensate for tolerance of evil. The church in Thyatira was permitting false prophetess to influence the people and lead them into compromise.
Jezebel was the idolatrous queen who enticed Israel to add Baal worship to their religious ceremonies (1 Kings 16-19). The seductive teaching of Jezebel encouraged believers on how to compromise with the Roman religion and the practices of the guilds so that Christians would not lose their jobs or their lives. This is basically tolerance of false doctrines within the congregation. Not only was the church at Thyatira of evil, but it was proud and unwilling to repent. The Lord gave the false prophetess time to repent, yet she refused. Now He was giving her followers opportunity to repent but there seemed to be no desire to change from their evil way. Being recalcitrant, the Lord is left with no other option than to impose His final judgement upon these evil doers.
It is clear from the admonition of the Lord that each believer is responsible for detaching himself from the Jezebel sect within the church. Every compromise targeted at obtaining favour from fellow church members and church authorities is a manifestation of Jezebel spirit. It is a clever snare that people get into knowingly and unknowingly. Jezebel agents have invaded the churches in large numbers and in many cases occupy strategic positions in the church. With ease, they recruit members especially those desperate for positions and financial assistance. The agents of Jezebel are quite easy to identify. They display pride, stubbornness and unrepentant spirit. Even when disciplined by the church, they mobilise forces to get their pardon using influential members of the congregation. What a tough task the church leaders indeed face!
As you review the activities of evil doers in the church, you can see the dangers that exist for the people of God especially the innocent souls that are yet to discover the salient truths in the word of God that can open their spiritual eyes. The cry of the Lord is for the individual to separate himself from the Jezebel sect within the church. A church may be so tolerant of evil that we grieve the Lord and invite His judgement. God’s exhortation is for the concerned members to repent and turn from their evil ways. It is not only lost sinners who need to repent, but also disobedient Christians. If we do not repent and deal with sin in our lives and in our assemblies, the Lord may judge us and remove our lampstand (Revelation 2:5). How tragic it is when a local church gradually abandons the faith and loses its witness for Christ! May we not be found wanting, in the name of Jesus.

PRAYER POINTS:
MORNING
  1. You the spirit of Jezebel manipulating the children of God to do evil, loose your hold and die, in the name of Jesus.
  2. Spirit of compromise among believers, be paralysed and die, in the name of Jesus.
  3. O God my Father, deliver Your church from the stronghold of Jezebel, in the name of Jesus.
    EVENING
  4. Fire of God, chase away all the agents of Jezebel in our midst, in the name of Jesus.
  5. Holy Spirit, deliver me from the captivity of Jezebel, in the name of Jesus.
  6. Blood of Jesus, purge my spirit of every pollution sponsored by agents of Jezebel in our church, in the name of Jesus.
  7. Every covenant of Jezebel over my life, be revoked by the blood of Jesus, in the name of Jesus.
