Anglican Church Of Nigeria Weekly Sunday School/ Bible Studies Manual For May 5, 2019 : TOPIC - Sustenance Principles.

--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. Study 2/6

May 5 Easter 2

Church of Nigeria 2019

Bible Study Sub-Theme 2: GODLY LEADERSHIP.

Topic: Sustenance Principles.

Text: Neh. 2:11-20; John 17:9-19

Aims: To
i. understand the meaning of ‘sustenance principles’;
ii. see the need or significance of sustenance principles;
iii. identify their possible implications to godly leadership; iv. see how godly leaders can apply sustenance principles.

INTRODUCTION

Some years back, the nations of the world came together to formulate some global goals called “Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)”. Individual nations were charged to step down (i.e. domesticate) these goals into visions in their individual localities.

Many projects and programmes have been done under the “MDGs”. Years after, it has become obvious that most of the projects and programmes couldn’t be found for lack of sustainability, thus “MDGs” have given birth to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is not enough to have godly leaders and leadership; it is more needful to have a successive line of godly leaders through ‘sustenance principles’.

STUDY GUIDE:

1. What do you understand by ‘sustenance principles’? Identify some principles we need to sustain our faith from Mark 3:13, 14; Matt. 16:24; 28:19, 20; 2 Tim.2:2.

2. Identify from Judges 2:6-11; Neh. 4:3, 7-8; John 17:11, some challenges that call for sustenance strategies.

3. Discuss the sustenance principles adopted by Nehemiah, Paul and our Lord Jesus Christ as in Neh. 2:20; 4:4, 9, 13-23; 13:8-13; Matt.13:36-37; 16: 21-23; John 21:15-17; 2 Tim.2:2.

4. In the light of Study Guide three above, discuss the likely implications of sustenance principles to godly leadership.

CONCLUSION: Whether for our faith in Christ, our leadership or the places (churches) where we serve the Lord, we need to appropriately employ sustenance principles to ensure continuity.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Having a successor who succeeds is a crucial sustenance principle to consider.
