Anglican Church Of Nigeria Weekly Sunday School/ Bible Studies Manual For April 28, 2019 : TOPIC - The Need of Christian Discipleship.

--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. INTRODUCTION

A ‘Christian disciple’ is a person who accepted Jesus Christ as his/her Saviour and Lord, who continues to learn from Him, and assists in the spread of the Good-News of Jesus Christ; while ‘Christian discipleship’ is the process by which disciples grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. In this study, it is also used for referring to the body of Christ. God's presence in humans produces essential qualities that are not natural to them. Such godly qualities make it possible for discipleship relationship to evolve as the mind of Christ in the Christian (Phil. 2: 5).

STUDY GUIDE: 1.

What does ‘Christian discipleship’ mean to you? Cf. Matt.16:24; Mark 2:13; 10:21, 29-30; Luke 5:11; 14:25-27. 2. What is the relationship between ‘godly leadership’ and ‘Christian discipleship’? 3. From the following scriptures, Matt. 16:21-23 (cf.1Pe.4:11); John 21:3-4, 5-6, 10, 12, 15-19; identify and discuss the need and role godly leadership plays in Christian discipleship. 4. Point out the effects of godly leadership in the two different human relationships of Mentoring and Christian discipleship. Cf. Mark 3: 14; John 15: 13-15.

CONCLUSION: Godly leadership and Christian discipleship are inseparable in nature. They both complement the activities of each other in human existence.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Christian discipleship is a means to raise godly leaders who in turn raise Christian disciples.
