March 27, 2019 Mountain Of Fire Daily Devotional : TOPIC - Dangers of Leaving God Out Of the Calculation (III)

--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. TOPIC - Dangers of Leaving God Out Of the Calculation (III)
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Judges 1-3; Luke 4:1-30
FIRE SCRIPTURE: Genesis 13:1-7
MEMORY VERSE: “And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren.” – Genesis 13:8

The MESSAGE:
In the journey of life, there are people you must not meet and there are those you must not miss, if you must achieve your divine destiny. This assertion is even more important when you have a divine call or assignment like Abraham. To ensure you do not miss the right persons and meet the wrong persons, you must consult God in t selection of your team members. This consultation covers all the facets of life including choice marital partner, career, organisation to work for, church denomination to attend, house and environment to live in, friends to keep, etc. The decisions you do not any choice over are matters like your country, village of birth, your parenthood, your gender, your race and all other things exclusively decided by God.
In God’s plan for Abraham, Lot was not included and to make matters worse, Abraham did not bother to ask God if he should go with him. Lot later became a burden rather than a good company to Abraham as soon as he became financially independent. He failed to caution his herdsmen who had the audacity to engage in strife with Abraham’s herdsmen over the struggle for pastures. You begin to wonder how many family fights have been caused by the love of money and struggle over family inheritance. People who used to love each other and enjoy each other will begin to attack each other just to get money, not realising that money cannot buy the blessings that families freely give.
Even though the problem was not an easy one, for it involved land and wealth, yet Abraham confronted it in a unique way. He determined to be a peacemaker and not a troublemaker. It was bad enough that this dispute was between brethren, but even worse, the heathen people of the land were watching and listening. When Christians have disputes, it hurts the testimony of the Lord if unbelievers had to get involved in peace making. Abraham chose to live for others, not for self as he put God first and others next. As the “elder statesman” of the camp, Abraham had every right to decide the issue and tell Lot what to do, but he gave Lot first choice (Romans 12:10). The spiritual Christian does not insist on his or her own rights but gladly yields to others. Abraham is the example of what every believer should do when there are disputes about material things.
Can two walk together, except they be agreed? (Amos 3:3). Abraham chose to bear the brunt of the consequences of his decision over the inclusion of Lot in his company. He let go so that peace could reign Lot, however, demonstrated the behaviour of a natural man who is greedy and covetous. He was comfortable to part ways with Abraham as long as he could get the best location for himself. This explains why we see the alarming rate at which churches split due to the activities of carnal Christians who are not walking with the Lord or with other believers but are merely interested in what would benefit them most.
Abraham lived by faith, not by sight. No matter what Lot did, Abraham was not worried about his future; for he knew that everything was in the hands of the Lord (Psalms 47:4; Matthew 6:33). He had met God at the altar and he knew that everything was under control. When God is first in your life, it makes no difference who is second or last. Lot had a tent but no altar (Genesis 13:5), which meant he did not call on the Lord for wisdom in making decisions (James 1:5). Instead of lifting up his eyes to heaven, Lot lifted up his eyes to the plain of Jordan (Genesis 13:10) and stopped there. The eyes see what the heart loves. Abraham had taken Lot out of Egypt, but he could not take Egypt out of Lot. Outlook helps to determine outcome. Abraham’s eyes were on the holy city of God (Hebrews 11:13-16), and he went on to walk with the Lord and inherit blessings. Lot’s eyes were on the sinful cities of men, and he went on to worldly success, spiritual failure, and a shameful end.
Whenever you get into a near-mess as a result of wrong decisions, face it squarely like Abraham, make necessary sacrifices, and return to the Lord for help and divine direction. May you have the wisdom to choose by faith and not by sight, in Jesus’ name.
