February 17, 2019 Spirit Meat Daily Devotional : Topic - TWO LEVELS OF LORDSHIP IN THE CHURCH [EPHESIANS 5:23, 2 CORINTHIANS 3:17]

In the church, Lordship is in two levels: JESUS IS LORD OVER THE CHURCH; AND THE HOLY SPIRIT IS LORD IN THE CHURCH. The connection of these two levels is crucial to the operation and functioning of human leadership in the Church. 

Jesus relates with the Church through the Holy Spirit, and the Church must relate with Jesus through the Holy Spirit. Jesus deals with the Holy Spirit, so also the Church deals with the Holy Spirit. The true church therefore is where the Holy Spirit is Lord. Ensuring this in the Church is the responsibility of the leader. This is the very heart of leadership in church. Nothing or no one must be Lord in the Church except the Holy Spirit. 
It is in churches where this reality is on ground that there is true liberty. It is the responsibility of the Pastor as the spiritual leader to help the people of God to make the Holy Spirit Lord in their lives by first allowing the Holy Spirit to be Lord in the Church.
Not allowing the Holy Spirit to be Lord in the Church is making the Lordship of Jesus over the Church ineffective. The Lordship of Jesus over the Church is what translates into effective Christianity, and the way to enthrone this is to allow the Holy Spirit to be Lord in the Church. Having the Lordship of Jesus over a church without allowing the Lordship, of the Holy Spirit is like a beautiful car without an engine.

PRAYER: Lord, I receive the ministry of the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ to guide my church membership in Jesus’ name. Amen.
