II. ANOTHER GOSPEL (2 Corinthians 11:1-4; Galatians 1:6-10; 3:1-9; 2 Peter 2:1-11)
In fact, why should we be talking of another gospel after all Christ has done for mankind? Christ and the apostles used their lives to practically express the meaning of the true gospel, and applied it effectively. Counterfeit gospel shouldn't be heard of amidst us, if we are not going to be ingrates. Yet, why is it rampant in Christendom today?
A. REASON FOR IT (2 Cor. 11:1-4; Gal. 1:6-10; 3:1-9)
For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted you may well put up with it! (2 Cor. 11:4)
i. In 2 Cor. 11:1-4, note the reference to another jesus, spirit and gospel that are altogether different from the Original one committed to the Apostles by our Lord Jesus.
ii. Indeed, this falsehood has been manifesting in the world since, in line with the earlier divine warning (cf. Acts 20:29-30; 2 Pet. 3:3-5). For instance, Paul lamented the infiltration of 'another gospel' among Galatian brethren (Gal. 1:6-10; 3:1-9).
iii. Gal. 1:6-10 implies that 'another gospel' is a perversion of the true Gospel of Christ. 3:1-9 shows it as bringing in legalism to enslave God's people.
iv. In essence, it is the news, teaching or prophecy that someone institutes through his/her own head/knowledge, even if it is linked to the Bible, but not according to the established standard of the Scripture. It can also be prophecy about spiritual matters but that is not from the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, such that after critical examination differs, or antagonises the correct biblical explanation (cf. 1 Tim. 6:3-5).
v. Some of the reasons for the presence and proliferation of fake gospel are:
a. Backsliding: Adding ungodly things alongside while still claiming church membership. Twisting God's Word in one's own way, for one's selfish purpose (1 Tim. 5:15);
b. Doing God's work for wealth (1 Tim. 6:3-5): Many are doing God's work in order to acquire riches and pleasure. Such people add or remove from the Truth, introducing another gospel (Rom. 16:17-18).
c. Possession of deceptive spirit (1 Jn. 4:1ff): Many of the spirits that some are using to do God's work cannot be said to be the Holy Spirit but strange spirits. The teachings and prophecies emanating from such spirits cannot tally with the true Gospel.
d. Accommodation modern doctrines (Gal. 3:1ff): There are different kinds of teachings in the world today that twist God's Word to suit their selfish purposes (1 Tim. 4:3-4; 2 Tim. 3:5-9).
c. Cherishing secret sins: Due to secret sins that some people do not want to abandon because of certain benefits they derive from it, Satan's deceit, or reasons best known to them, they would often propagate teachings in support of such sinful lifestyles so as not to be exposed (cf. Acts 8:9-25).
vi. The truth of the gospel has been made clear enough for anyone to choose rightly. But the human nature which some cannot deal with in their lives may have made it easier to give room for another gospel, which remains aligned to follower's belief. Also, where the sinful nature of man is not acknowledged, definitely, it is a base for 'another' gospel. Beware!
END RESULTS OF IT (2 Peter 2:1-11)
Then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to preserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment (v. 9).
The Bible has not kept us in dark as regards the end result of those who are not standing in the true gospel. This is why we are to dissociate ourselves from such people (1 Tim. 6:1-5).
a. God would punitively expose them and put them in shame (Lk. 8:17).
b. We will all give account of our stewardship to God, and the peddlers of the counterfeit gospel would fall under the terror of the Lord (1 Cor. 5:10,11).
c. The Lord Jesus knows those who are truly serving Him and would expose the fake in the end (Matt. 7:21-23).
f. God can mockingly condemn them to put up with their false doctrines to their shame and detriment (2 Cor. 11:4d).
g. False teachers are doomed (2 Pet. 2:1-11); they are accursed (Gal. 1:8).
ii. So that these disasters would not befall you, be steadfast and remain in the true doctrines that you have been taught (2 Thess. 2:14,15). Let us stay away from modern counterfeit gospel, so that we may be counted worthy of His Second Coming.
iii. Why would anyone give himself to the deceitful gimmick of the devil to settle for another gospel that has nothing good to offer permanently? Let the followers of 'another' gospel note this that they will dreadfully end up with the devil in hell.
LESSON DERIVED
1. The devil is mad at God and is doing everything to fake God's genuineness. Don't align with him!
2. All who align with the counterfeit gospel are doomed. Just as those who peddle it, and are comfortable with it.

The true gospel is the good ni of God's love to everyone; He gave His Son, Jesus, to reconcile us for His Kingdom. This good news is what we have to show as the message of light to illuminate the dark world. In it, we will feel encouragement, peace, clear purpose of life, etc.
ANSWER TO QUESTION 2:
Another gospel means the preaching, teaching and application of the counterfeit of what Jesus came to offer, whereby the whole messages of the Kingdom of God is perverted for selfish purpose under the manipulation of the God of this world (the devil).
ANSWER TO QUESTION 3:
The true gospel is the prevalent. Every factor about the gospels proved the two gospel to be. More so, Christ's victory on the cross over death, and the power the Word of God that is incomparable and unbeatable really stand the test.
However, as one of the signs of the end times, the devil is raising his own agents flood Christendom with fake principles, preaching, teachings, and practices, in bid to water down the true gospel of Christ. He is making it appear as if such far gospellers are having upper hands. We must beware, and we must hold out to light of the true gospel of Christ to silence the darkness of counterfeit gospels.

LIFE APPLICATION
The banking system in its capacity is doing all it can to see that counterfeit currency is off circulation. Talk of the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON). Efforts are on high gear to stop counterfeiting of goods and services in the society. In the health sector, like other sectors, counterfeiting rampant. We vehemently become victims of these and more in our world today because those who should have questioned and challenged it have become the promoters.
Jesus came at will, to redeem man from the hands of the devil, that once too captive of the world. Yet, the devil would not relent in his effort at duplicating whatever God has made. Therefore, having known the devil for whom he is --- the deceiver and father of lies, a master manipulator, let every child of God, in the domains, says no to his fake gospel. Let us always do to the gospel and its peddled what Jesus did to them in His days, here on earth. May we not fail Him. Amen.
CONCLUSION
Another gospel produces counterfeit Christians who unknowing have received a different jesus and a different god --- the counterfeit. A gospel that does not includes the requirement for repentance and self-denial is not complete, and the birth it produces is not of God. Those who preach and teach another gospel are as wolves in sheep's clothing, deceiving, and distracting the lambs from their true Shepherd's call. May the Comforter, the Counselor, and the Spirit of the truth continue revealing the reality of Jesus Christ to all that have missed it. May He not stop punitively exposing the peddlers of such fake gospels. Amen.
