C.A.C SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON Eternal Plan of God for Man For February 17th 2019, LESSON THREE : TOPIC - ANOTHER GOSPEL

--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. C.A.C SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON  Eternal Plan of God for Man For February 17th 2019, LESSON THREE : TOPIC -  ANOTHER GOSPEL

C.A.C SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON
Eternal Plan of God for Man.
February 17th 2019.

LESSON THREE: ANOTHER GOSPEL

The Gospel of Jesus, -- His birth, suffering, death, burial, resurrection, ascension, ministry at the right Hand of God, and Second Coming, is the only Gospel. Any message that contradicts this is nothing but accursed. Avoid it like plague!

MEMORY SCRIPTURE
But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed (Galatians 1:8).

BRIEF COMMENT
It will jot be a surprise if a question like this is asking what gospel follow today. Could it be the true gospel as set forth in the New Testament, or one perverted with the doctrine of men (v. 9)? There are churches or groups of believers who teach the plans of salvation different from God's eternal redemptive plan, perfected in the suffering, atoning death, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). Thus, they cannot be right because, they contradict, oppose any try to pervert the teachings of the gospel of Christ.

This may have been Apostle Paul's experience with the church at Galatians, when he pitifully expressed his surprise about their turning from the true gospel once preached to them (Gal. 1:6). Apostle Paul's concern for the gospel recipients was, they should be able to stand and remain firm on the true teachings of Christ they were taught, whereby they can grow in godliness and increase in the knowledge of God (Rev. 3:11).

Also today, the situation has not been different. Despite the alarmingly increasing number of churches, coupled with the so called sophisticated knowledge of the scripture, many acclaimed believers have turned to what can be called the liberal or social gospel, because of life's pleasures. However, let us do ourselves good with the help of the Holy Spirit to live in the true gospel of Christ, as we had received (Eph. 4:20ff).

DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING FOR WEEK ONE
Mon.   11:   Beware; Believe not Every Spirit (Jn.4:1-3)
Tue.    12:  Believe Jesus' Gospel of the Kingdom (Matt. 4:23)
Wed.   13:  Bend on Preaching the Gospel Worldwide (Matt. 24:14)
Thur.  14:  Be Sure No Man Deceives You (Matt. 24:4-5)
Fri.     15:  Beware of those Preaching Another Gospel (1 Tim. 6:3-5)
Sat.    16:  Fake Gospel's Preachers are "Grievous Wolves" (Acts 20:29)

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT
1.  For every original, fakes flood the market to deceive the unsuspecting. It is suicidal to fall for the counterfeit gospel.
2.  Nothing less than, or other than the true gospel of Christ that reveals God's true love should appeal to us, regardless of the weight of the source. He who follows the counterfeit is as good as committing spiritual and eternal suicide. Beware!

BACKGROUND SCRIPTURES: 2 Corinthians 11:3-5

AIM AND OBJECTIVES
AIM:   To establish the fact that there is only one gospel --- the true gospel of Christ, the one great work of God's love for us.

OBJECTIVE:   At the end of this two-week lesson, learners should be:
i.  able to show that any other gospel apart from the account of Christ's incarnation, suffering, death and resurrection, is counterfeit;
ii.  able to show from the Scripture, that God has not left us in the dark as to the coming and nature of the counterfeit gospel;
iii. able to discuss with relevant references and application, the reasons for counterfeit gospels; and
iv. Prepared to warn the people of the consequences of aligning with counterfeit gospel, with themselves avoiding it and its proponents like plague.

INTRODUCTION
TEXTUAL SOURCE: MATTHEW 4:23; ACTS 20:25-31; ROMANS 1:16,17; 2 CORINTHIANS 11:1-4; GALATIANS 1:6-10; 3:1-9; 2 PETER 2:1-11
We thank God for the second lesson in this series. Our discussion was centered on the topic, OBSTACLES TO ETERNITY, from Matthew 7:18-23; Acts 4:12; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Ephesians 4:22-32; and Revelation 22:1-5. God first took us through an understanding of His thought about eternity, including the pathway to His eternity. He then warned us as regards those things that can hinder us from entering into that eternal bliss. He also chose not to leave us without giving us the way out so that we can be free from these killer --- spiritual little foxes. May His name be forever glorified. Amen.

In this new two-week lesson, God is turning our attention towards Satan's attempt at counterfeiting everything that He came to be, and do, in Christ for our redemption and salvation. Is there really another gospel? How can it be identified and silenced?

The true gospel talks about the birth of Jesus Christ, His ministry on earth, His suffering and death on the Cross, His resurrection on the third day, His ascension after appearing for 40 days, and the promise of His Second Coming (1 Cor. 15:1-5). This is the gospel that He committed into the hands of the Apostles before His ascension (Matt. 28:18-20; Mk. 16:14-16). However, it is a pity that shortly after Jesus' ascension "another gospel" became rampant, quite different from the one Jesus committed to the Apostles, though, it had been prophesied before (Acts 20:29-30). This shows Satan's struggle to disrupt God's eternal plan for mankind so that it does not come to fruition. Brethren, let us be careful!

May our eyes be positively wide-open as the Holy Spirit illuminates our hearts to see the devil's lies and shame, his cunny but exposed ways. Amen. Satan cannot stop the true Gospel!

INTRODUCTION TO EACH DIVISION
This lesson has two divisions, I and II. Each of them is further divided into A and B.

DIVISION I: THE TRUE GOSPEL
This part of the lesson is to afford us the view and knowledge of what God wants us to understand of the true gospel. Of a truth, no one can appreciate whatever concept or phenomenon he/she has gotten information about. Therefore, this division challenges us to genuinely get the reasons for it, and more so, say no to every effort to manipulate it for selfish purposes.

DIVISION II: ANOTHER GOSPEL
This division is shift away from division 1. We shall discuss the differences between the true gospel and the counterfeit one. This gospel is characterised with human idea, full of manipulation and perversions, but is made easy for people to believe and fall for. The advancement of this tells us that the archenemy of the gospel, the devil, is blindfolding many, in order to be preying on them. This kind of gospel must be totally avoided.

LESSON OUTLINE
I.   THE TRUE GOSPEL
     A.   CONTENT OF THE TRUE GOSPEL
     B.   COUNTERFEIT GOSPEL PROPHESIED
II.  ANOTHER GOSPEL
     A.   REASONS FOR IT
     B.   END RESULTS OF IT

LESSON EXPOSITION
Feb. 17th, 2019
I.   THE TRUE GOSPEL (Matthew 4:23; Acts 20:25-31; Romans 1:16,17).
Whatever is true, is true. And the truth of the gospel is the good news that the devil had madean to be deprived of, by deceiving man from the onset. In fact, the content of this gospel really shows the depth of God's love for His children. And because he (devil) has been defeated; he advanced in pretence to manipulate and counters this gospel that Christ gave to us.

A.   CONTENT OF THE TRUE GOSPEL (Matt. 4:23; Rom. 1:16,17)
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek (Rom. 1:16).
i.   The true Gospel is the mgood news about the resurrection of man from the state of hopelessness and he'll-bound journey, inherited by the Fall (Gen. 3:1ff) to becoming the "Beloved of God" (Col. 1:12-13).
ii.   Our Lord Jesus preached the "Gospel of the kingdom" (Matt. 4:23), and said it would be preached all over the world (Matt. 24:14). Apostle Paul referred to it as "The Gospel of God" (2 Cor. 11:7).
iii. It is the power of God (Rom. 1:16,17).
iv. When Jesus was departing this earth, He handed over the mission of spreading the Gospel to the believers (Mk. 16:15), and after His ascension, His Apostles and disciples embarked on aggressive evangelism (Acts 2:14-40). Anytime signs and wonders were done through them, they aligned it with the Gospel (Acts 3:12-26). When opposition arose, they didn't turn back (cf. Acts 4:5-12; 7:1ff; 12:2-12; 16:23-40).
v.  The first 4 books of the New Testament are called the Gospel Books because these books talk about the birth, life, ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus as well as His ascension to heaven.
vi. This is the only true gospel (the gospel of Christ's incarnation, suffering, death, resurrection, and ascension), pointing our direction to God in Christ Jesus, and how we can get to heaven to reign with Him in eternity.

B.  COUNTERFEIT GOSPEL PROPHESIED (Acts 20:25-31)
For í know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock (Acts 20:29).
i.   Jesus warned us of the rise of many false prophets (Matt. 24:11).
ii.  In the parable of the wheat and tares (Matt. 13:24ff), the good seed might imply the seed of the Kingdom (the gospel) while tares/weed refers to the seed of Satan, the wicked one (another gospel).
iii. Paul in his valedictory speech to the Ephesians brethren (Acts 20:28-30) talked about grievous wolves that would gain access to the fold of the sheep to perpetrate deceit after his departure.
iv. Peter also talked about those that would bring in another gospel in the end time fake/false prophets/teachers who would bring in destructive heresies into the Church of Christ (2 Pet. 2:1-3; 3:3-5).
v.  Jude warned about some people that would creep secretly, perverting the grace of God into licentiousness (v. 4).
vi. It wasn't long that Church began that these prophecies started coming to pass. In fact, some of those who prophesied also witnessed its manifestation. Apostle John lamented, Little children, it is the last hour. He vehemently warned, ...as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come (1 Jn. 2:18-19).
vii. Decide never to believe or follow 'another gospel' (any message that contradicts what the Bible says about Jesus' deity and humanity), no matter how people may be carried away with whatever goes with it.

LESSONS DERIVED
1.   The true Gospel entails who Christ is, what He came to do, and all He is doing for us till eternity.
2.  The true Gospel forever threatens the devil. God has warned us that the devil is launching fake gospel into the world. Be warned!

WORK TO DO
Identify some forms of counterfeit gospel prevalent in the world today. Proffer solutions?

SUGGESTED ANSWER TO WORK TO DO
This is what we know that Satan is deeply involved in the matter of religion. He is the ruler and god of sin and humanity (worldliness). He deceives mankind by counterfeiting and corrupting the teachings of God. The Bible says, he transforms himself from angel of darkness to angel of light (deceit) to counterfeit the truth of Christ (2 Cor. 13-15). By what we know him for, he deceitfully defines the gospel for people to understand it as it please the flesh. Some of the fake gospels are:
a)  The doctrine that Jesus couldn't have been 100% God, 100% man.
b)  The teaching that Jesus didn't die on the cross, that He was brought down from the cross before He could die, and that He lived to an enviable old age, married and gave birth to children.
c)  The teaching that someone took the place of Jesus on His way to the cross., and that the person was crucified instead of Jesus.
d)  The teaching that Jesus could not have been God; that He is not equal with God.
e)  The belief that there are mysteries about God, Jesus, and Christianity that need some special knowledge to understand. Thus, some societies that disguise as Christian organizations (cults) come up with mysterious, magical books to, as they say, complement the Bible, and end up glorifying such fake materials than the Bible, e.g the Book of Mormons, the 6th and 7th Book of Moses, etc.
f)  The teaching that the moment a person accepts Jesus as his personal Lord and Saviour, he/she can no longer suffer.
g)  There are a lot of false teachings about Jesus in the Quran.
h)  There are a lot of false teachings on so many prayer mountains. For instance, imagine a prophet on one of the mountains who told the congregation to open a Psalm in the Bible, put the Bible on the ground, and step on the Bible with the two feet on either sides of the Bible's fold. What is that? Is it not occultic?
i.  Mention some others going on around you.

All of the above and many others are nothing but fake, hence the counterfeit gospel (1 Tim. 6:3ff). What should we do?
a)  There is a need to know the truth from the counterfeit gospel, because the gospel is all about the person, power and purpose of Jesus Christ.
b)  Study the Bible regularly and purposefully to grasp the Truth.
c)  Have nothing to do with the proponents of such counterfeit gospel (1 Tim. 6:20; 2 Tim 2:16; Tit. 3:9).

d)  Preach and teach the true gospel at all times (2 Tim. 4:2ff).
e)  Read and meditate on only materials that would build up your faith in Christ in the right direction.
f)  Be focused on the Second Coming of Christ (Heb. 12:2).
